My encounter with the wonderful Zachary Quinto

I had the good fortune to get a hold of a ticket to see Zachary Quinto in his performance last night in New York. This is a quick summary of what happened.

The play itself was a series of readings of short works by the group Naked Angels, which is based in New York. I don't know a whole lot about theater, but it was halfway between reading it (they had scripts in their hands) and acting it out, which was very interesting to watch.

The segment featuring Zachary Quinto was called "Sex with the Censor" by Theresa Rebeck, and it was about a man whole hires a prostitute, but keeps censoring her, i.e., telling her not to touch him or use bad language. He kept whispering, "Tell me what you want," and I just about died when he, um, finished. The memory of his hands gripping the stand his script was on and making those noises has been burned into my mind forever.

The relatively small audience later packed into a room upstairs for the afterparty. He was immediately mobbed by fangirls, and talked to the creative directors for a while. I didn't want to interrupt him and be a crazy!fangirl because that must get rather annoying after a while. He was walking somewhere, when I quietly got his attention, and we talked for a bit. I told him I was sorry he got inundated (he smiled at my big word, yay!) by crazy fans, and he said I didn't seem like one. If only you knew, sir, if only you knew. He let me get a picture with him, and was perfectly charming. I also got an anthology of the company's plays, signed by the actors and writers of that night's event.

Best night ever!

Comment if you want me to send you a copy of the play, it was in the the anthology.
