“Hyung, what are we going to do tomorrow?” The youngest, Shim Changmin, asked his hyungs in the lift, feet bouncing from side to side. He had been unable to hide his excitement for the whole day about their break tomorrow.

“Eat. Sleep. Do nothing.” Yoochun answered, yawning, a contrast to the energetically bouncing dongsaeng.

“But Hyung, that’s so boring!” Changmin whined, moving away towards his other hyung, hanging onto his arm. “Don’t you think so, Jaejoong-hyung?”

Jaejoong smiled at their youngest, who was pouting, deciding to indulge him. “What do you suggest, Min?”

Changmin brightened up immediately, happy that someone was listening to him.

“I don’t know. Maybe we can go visit Kibummie, Kyuhyunnie, and the rest of them. I haven’t seen them in ages! Do you think we can do that, Hyung?”

Changmin turned, puppy-dog eyes pleading at his hyungs.

Jaejoong chuckled at the normally mature - or at least acts mature - boy next to him. Yunho, Junsu and Yoochun simply laughed out loud at Changmin. Changmin pouted before turning his back to his hyungs. Then he paused, the pout disappearing from his face.

“Kyuhyun?”

It was whispered so softly that only Jaejoong who was next to Changmin heard it. Even then, Jaejoong doubted that he heard correctly. Before Jaejoong could react, Changmin broke out into a run.

“Wait, Changmin!” Jaejoong shouted, chasing after his dongsaeng.

It was only then did the other three stop in their laughter. They looked at each other, worried that they might have hurt their magnae with their actions. Without a word, they ran down the corridor as well.

Changmin skidded to a stop in front of the shadow, which he now confirmed was Kyuhyun. He squatted down, calling out to his friend softly as he reached out to lift Kyuhyun’s head. A frown etched on his face when he felt the coldness of the skin, a frown that became more profound when Changmin noticed the tear tracks that went down Kyuhyun’s face. His calls started to be more frantic as Kyuhyun showed no response to his calls.

“Changmin!” Jaejoong shouted as he chased after the magnae, hoping that it was not what he thought he heard. Fear gripped his heart when he saw Changmin drop down to the floor. Jaejoong kneeled down next to Changmin, worry clearly visible on his face as he took in what Changmin saw as well. Kyuhyun’s eyes were half opened, but there was no recognition in his eyes. Jaejoong was especially worried about the glossiness he saw in Kyuhyun’s eyes. In Changmin’s haste, he did not notice the puddle of water that had gathered under Kyuhyun. Jaejoong knew that they had to get Kyuhyun out of the wet clothes before Kyuhyun caught a cold. He had no idea how long the younger boy had been there outside their apartment, though Jaejoong could tell that it had been a while.

Yunho was the first to reach the pair, his eyes widening at the sight in front of him.

“Hyung, he’s not responding!”

Changmin’s words jerked him into action. Immediately, Yunho bent down to pick up the pale, wet and shivering boy. It was only then that Kyuhyun showed any signs that he was still conscious. Yunho tightened his grip as the boy struggled weakly in his arms, frowning at the way Kyuhyun squirmed in his arms.

“It’s okay, Kyuhyun. It’s me, Yunho. It’s okay.”

Yunho spoke gently, trying to get Kyuhyun to stop moving, but he showed no sign that he heard Yunho’s words.

Yoochun rushed to open the door to their dorm when he noticed the figure in Yunho’s arms. Briefly he wondered why Kyuhyun was there for he was sure that the rest of Super Junior would never let their magnae out of their sight. He had witnessed the protectiveness over their members especially after Heechul’s accident. That thought quickly flew out his mind when his mind took note of the paleness and pain that was etched on the younger boy’s face. Exchanging a worried glance with his leader as Yunho carried Kyuhyun into their dorm; Yoochun prayed that nothing major had drove the boy here.

Junsu gently pulled their magnae along as they entered their dorm, making sure to shut the door behind him. The last thing they needed right now was for some random person to dash into their apartment. Junsu tried his best to comfort Changmin, for the anxiety clearly showed on the younger boy’s face. But even he could not hide the concern he had for Kyuhyun, he could only be there, letting Changmin know that he was not alone in his worry for Junsu too had no idea what was going on. He knew from Eunhyuk that the recovery from the accident was tough on all of them, especially their magnae, as well as some vague details about Kyuhyun’s past. Junsu knew that Eunhyuk had mentioned something, but what exactly was escaping his mind at the moment.

“Yoochun, go grab a towel. Min, get some clothes for him to change. We can’t leave him in his wet clothes.”

Jaejoong instructed, kneeling down beside the sofa where Yunho had placed Kyuhyun on. His hand touched Kyuhyun’s face.
“Hyung, I’ll call Hyukjae and tell them that he’s here.”
Kyuhyun shifted under Jaejoong's hand, mouth opening as if speaking. Jaejoong’s other hand reached out to grab Kyuhyun’s hand.

“What is it Kyuhyun?”

He had to lean forward to catch the reply. The soft whispered words made Jaejoong frown deeply. What exactly happened? He blinked out of his thoughts when Kyuhyun kept repeating his words. Running his hand through Kyuhyun’s hair, like how he did whenever their magnae was in need of comfort, Jaejoong tried to calm the boy down.

“Shh. It’s okay. We will just tell them that you’re found so that they will stop searching for you.”

Yunho bent down as well when Kyuhyun shook his head, understanding what the other boy was asking for.

“It’s okay. We’ll stop them from coming here.”

Both heaved a sigh of relief when the younger boy stopped struggling, calming down under the soothing actions from Jaejoong.

By then, both Yoochun and Changmin had completed the instructions from Jaejoong, bringing towels and clothes respectively to the living room. As Jaejoong started drying Kyuhyun with the towel, Junsu took out his phone, dialling a familiar number, hoping that his best friend would pick up the call.

“Hyukjae?”

Junsu heard a surprised exclamation on the other side. Deep down, Junsu was apologetic that he was making this phone call to inform his friend of the news. But before Junsu could continue, Eunhyuk’s voice cut him off.

“Junsu ah, why have you called? Never mind. Have you seen Kyuhyun? He’s missing! We’re trying to find him now. If you see him, give me a call. I better go now.”

Junsu could practically see the other boy pacing frantically around the room, almost shouting into the phone. The last sentence snapped Junsu into action.

“No wait!”

There was silence, making Junsu wonder if Eunhyuk had already hung up on him. Taking his phone off his ear, Junsu noted that the call was still connected.

“We’ve found him. Or rather he found us.”

“What? So he’s with you now?”

“Yes, we’re in our dorm right now. But…”

Junsu’s words were cut off by Eunhyuk’s enthusiastic reply.

“We’ll be right there!”

“Wait!” Junsu shouted into his phone, earning himself glares from the other three from the sofa. Changmin was too worried about Kyuhyun to react.

“Wait, Hyuk.” Junsu knew that Eunhyuk was still on the line, but he did not know how to tell his best friend not to come and find his magnae straight away. “Hyuk, listen to me. I don’t think it’s a good idea for you to come down now.”

“Why?”

“Kyuhyun…He asked for you all not to come.” Despite the silence on the other side, Junsu knew that Eunhyuk was still on the line.

“Hyuk, listen to me. I don’t think that it’s exactly what Kyuhyun means. I don’t know what happened, but I think he’s just confused. It’s better to let him have his way first.”

Junsu did not know how to go about explaining it such that it would hurt less. He knew no matter how he phrased it, it would still hurt. The silence drew on with Junsu staying on the phone to show that he was there for Eunhyuk.

Yunho carried Kyuhyun to his bed after the younger boy had been changed out of his wet clothes. He shook his head as he was pushed gently back by Jaejoong. Jaejoong had already claimed the younger boy as his, hovering and whispering words to the boy, like how he acted every time one of them was sick. Changmin had taken the other spot on the other side, holding on to his friend’s hand. Their magnae had been quite shaken by the way they had found his friend. Yunho was about to speak when Yoochun and Junsu entered the room.

“Did you manage to contact them?”

Junsu nodded, sitting down on the other bed. He grabbed the pillow, hugging it to him. Yoochun sat down beside him, pulling his band mate close to him.

“What did they say?” Yoochun asked.

In the quietness of the room, all of them caught Junsu’s words which echoed almost word for word what Eunhyuk had told him over the phone.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Kyuhyun blurrily opened his eyes, blinking as his eyes met with the white ceiling above him. He pushed himself up slowly, his body aching badly. Looking around, Kyuhyun realised that he was in the Dong Bang Shin Ki dorm, judging by the posters on the wall. As he grabbed hold on the table next to the bed, Kyuhyun wondered how he ended up here for the night. His memories of the previous day were sketchy. All he remembered most clearly was the words his father said to him. Kyuhyun flinched as the words replayed in his mind.
I hope you can live with yourself, knowing that you sent a little boy to death.
Kyuhyun squeezed his eyes shut, as if the action would remove the sting the words had on him. Pushing his aching body forward, Kyuhyun tentatively made his way out of the room. His whole body felt weak. He doubted that his legs would support him all the way to the living room. Using the wall as a support, Kyuhyun shuffled down the corridor, his face paling from exhaustion.
Changmin walked out from the bathroom, drying his hair with his towel. He had not wanted to leave his friend alone in the room, wanting to provide a familiar face when Kyuhyun woke up, but he could not out-argue Yunho-hyung. Changmin had been exceptionally worried about Kyuhyun. He had to be dragged away from the slightly older boy’s bed by Yoochun and Junsu the night before to his own bed. None of them tried convincing Jaejoong-hyung to not spend the night by Kyuhyun’s side, not when Jaejoong was in his protective lioness mode. Changmin frowned, his mind turning over the words Junsu-hyung had told them the previous night and the late night conversations he had with Kibum. He felt a surge of anger run through his body. How could someone do that to him? Changmin had found a friend in the magnaes of the other band for all three of them - him, Kibum and Kyuhyun - did not make friends easily for their stoic appearances. And I won’t allow anyone to hurt any of them. He was so engrossed in his thoughts that he jerked in shock when he heard his hyung shout.
Yoochun walked out of the kitchen where Jaejoong was cooking up a storm to get rid of all his anger at what Junsu revealed the previous night. Yoochun had chuckled nervously when he witness how Jaejoong chopped up the garlic. It was as if the garlic was his enemy. I don’t think we should let Jae-hyung near those people with a knife. They’ll become minced meat. He winced as he saw the garlic being meshed into things that Yoochun had no words to describe. He pitied the garlic. Turning around, Yoochun stopped in his tracks when he noticed the pale figure walking down the corridor, using the wall as support.
“Kyuhyun! What are you doing up?”
Yoochun’s shout came as a shock to Kyuhyun, who looked up in surprise before losing his balance, his legs crumbling beneath him. Yoochun instantly bounded towards the younger boy but did not manage to catch him in time.
“Kyuhyun!”
He sighed, realising that their own magnae had been behind the boy, reaching Kyuhyun before him.
Changmin jumped towards Kyuhyun when he realised what happened.
“Kyu, are you okay?”
Changmin asked, as he supported Kyuhyun’s weight, frowning at how Kyuhyun’s body was trembling. And his skin feels so hot.
“I’m sorry. Are you okay? I’m really sorry for giving you a shock.”
Kyuhyun shook his head. “It’s okay. It’s my fault anyway.”
He tried to push himself off Changmin, but the younger boy only tightened his grip on Kyuhyun.
“What are you doing up?”
Kyuhyun looked up at Yoochun’s question. He could not possibly tell them that he was trying to find someone in the house, for waking up alone with a white ceiling reminded him too much of his stay in the hospital and the coldness of his house.
Another voice interrupted before Kyuhyun could answer.
“What happened?” Jaejoong had run out of the kitchen when he heard the commotion, knife still in his hand. When he noticed Kyuhyun in between Yoochun and Changmin, his eyes immediately narrowed on the flush on Kyuhyun’s face.
“You, Kyu, shouldn’t be up. Changmin ah, carry him to the sofa. Chunnie, go get a glass of water and some fever medicine from the cupboard.”
Looking at Jaejoong, Yoochun and Changmin immediately sprung into action. None of them was planning to argue with their Umma, especially not when he was brandishing a potential killer weapon in his hand. Jaejoong nodded, hurrying into the kitchen to finish his cooking.
Changmin ignored the weak protest coming from his friend. He knew that if Kyuhyun was feeling at his best, Changmin would most probably be on the floor because of a punch from his friend. He would give anything to be on the floor now, but he would not risk his life objecting to Jaejoong-hyung right now. Besides, Changmin was growing increasingly concerned about the flush on his hyung’s face. Gently placing Kyuhyun down on the sofa, Changmin took a spot next to Kyuhyun.
“Kyu ah, are you okay?”
Changmin knew that Kyuhyun would just reply that he was alright, but he still had to get that question out of him.
Kyuhyun nodded, flashing a weak smile at Changmin, doing nothing to ease the concern in him.
“Kyu, you know that I’m here for you right? We’re all here for you.”
Kyuhyun tensed, wondering if Changmin knew all the things that had happened to him. Then he realised that Kibum must have said something to Changmin. And most probably Eunhyuk-hyung as well.
Kyuhyun stared at his hands, not wanting to answer his friend.
“Here,” Kyuhyun looked up in surprise at the glass in front of him. “Jae-hyung’s instructions are for you to drink and finish the medicine.”
Kyuhyun took the glass but tried protesting against the medicine.
“No one defies Jae-hyung when he’s in Umma-mode, just like no one defies Eeteuk-hyung in Umma-mode.”
Kyuhyun looked at the medicine in Yoochun’s hand, and back up at his hyung. He reached out to take the medicine, making a face as he swallowed the pills. Changmin smiled beside him, glad to know that there were some parts of his friend that remained the same despite everything that had occurred. Yoochun ruffled Kyuhyun’s hair, taking the glass from him, leaving the two youngest alone.
Kyuhyun ducked his head when Yoochun ruffled his hair, a nostalgic smile appearing on his face as he remembered how Kangin always did that to him as well. This time, he did not resist as Changmin pulled him closer. They stayed in silence until the rest of the members entered the room carrying plates of food.
