Escape from the Labyrinth

Last year, I acquired a fairly thorough dislike of Las Vegas after I spent a week there for SAP TechEd '06 Las Vegas. I kind of vaguely shook it off toward the end, and did a little better after I spent some time with Brad instead of stuck inside the Venetian.

After getting back from that, and then after going to Vegas with Kevin and Lita earlier this year, I decided that I would prefer not to go back there any time soon. For reference, my last 4 plane trips have been, in order, Las Vegas, Japan, Japan, Las Vegas. I need a little break from both these places!

That was my intent for the past two months - the conference is coming up again, and I nimbly dodged every urging from co-workers to join them in Vegas. But now, with one of my co-workers laid up sick, I may be forced to step up and take her place (I may be set against Las Vegas, but I'm not a big enough asshole to try and get a dog-sick Jodi to leave her family just so she can film some engineers answering questions).

Urgh. Here's hoping she gets well soon, otherwise I'm spending another week in the hole.
