No good, they don't have... How does this even work? I'll stay away from it for now...

[Rummaging noises come from the journal, numerous but careful. It sounds like someone is exploring the item shop.]

I apologize for bothering everyone, but could anyone recommend objects that are helpful to a household? Specifically, objects that are necessary for ( Read more... )

[... A small laugh. It just seems cute, this guy trying to keep things clean while being absolutely clueless.]

What sort of things are you finding? I'd recommending having a broom and mop, some cloth rags and soap... Let's see, "objects necessary for a new arrival". Are they living by themselves or with someone else?

All sorts of contraptions made out of glass and metal. [A.K.A. lightbulbs.] The basics are easy enough to obtain, at least... I have housemates, but I should try to furbish my own room, at least.

Hm? How big are these? [ From "glass and metal" alone, she can't be too sure. ]

Well... it helps to have a laundry hamper for your own clothes. A small trash can, blankets and pillow cases for your bed... ?

Oh, and welcome to Luceti.

About the size of a fist. [Well, of his fist.] I'll look for those, though I might have to come a few times to get them all.

Thank you, Miss. Hopefully my stay will be relatively peaceful.

[She laughs a bit.] That "relatively" is pretty handy. I don't think you could describe any stay as peaceful without it. But it'll be okay, I think.

It should be. I have many people from home here with me, and most of those I've met are very kind. I might even find this enjoyable.

Mm. It's good to focus on the company here. It says a lot about people that so many help each other in Luceti.

Perhaps the Malnosso prefer to observe kind people. Or perhaps everyone realizes that we need to work together if we wish to return home.

It's a good sign in itself.

How're the supplies coming? Did you figure out what those-- wait. ...Were you talking about lightbulbs? With a wire inside?

Ah, yes, those. They do not exist in my world, and since I've never really looked at the lamps... But apparently, we'll need them soon enough.

For nighttime! But yes, they burn out after a while. Still, they're more convenient than candles.

They do seem less likely to set the house on fire, and also easier to clean. Though I've been told they should not be in contact with water.

Oh... well, that's right. Electricity can go through water, so anything that uses it shouldn't go near water. [Sounding a mite concerned here as she is suddenly seeing the potential problem with people unfamiliar with technology being put in a place with it freely available.]

It really does work like the elements, then. But I still do not understand how a lightning-elemental can use fire.

The energy makes heat too--but you know what, I'm really not the best person to explain it. [She laughs.] I never questioned the why of it much!

There is a lot we never question unless someone asks us about it. And then we never know how to answer.
