Painful story, all too plausible though.

The last two paragraphs made me tear up!

Well, it's never exactly my goal to make people cry, but I'm glad it had the intended effect, nevertheless. ;)

I liked the balance of hope and despair in this story. It was such a sad story, but River and Simon returning back to Serenity showed some light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe having his little albatross back will make Mal whole again. I'm sure River is up to the task of fixing him.

Yes, I like to think that with a lot of time and help from all his crew, including of course River, Mal would heal eventually. It would be far too sad otherwise!

This was beautiful. Heartbreaking also, but still beautiful.

I loved the whole thing with River and Simon starting a life on a world (I adored River's job...) and I really loved the end with her and Simon finally coming back home to Serenity. Nicely done all around.

Thanks for writing!!

Thanks for your comments. :)

River's job amused me, it was fun to think of her kicking ass in a bar and getting paid to do so.

That was absolutely lovely - bittersweet and just... lovely.

Thank you. I'm glad there's apparently enough sweet in with the bitter to make it likeable. :)
