For my birthday, garnetgirlrp took me to a burlesque show at the Vic.
It was fucking amazing.
The highlight was Claire de Lune, who didn't even get remotely naked but still had the most creative and erotic act I have ever seen. She was dressed as two people - a beautiful woman in a silky white dress, and the devil. She made it look real; I don't know how. The costume must have taken weeks to fine-tune, to make it actually look like two different beings standing next to each other. A devil's head was sewn in so that it popped out of her left shoulder. Her left hand and arm were painted red. This red devil's hand would caress her waist, slide up her body, and then reach her breast, at which point her other hand - the pretty girl's hand - would slap it away. Then he'd go for the thigh, and the same thing would happen. But then the devil's head turned and whispered something in her ear. She melted; the devil grabbed her, and lay her down. Naturally, since he was attached to her, he lied down next to/on top of her, and then his hand reached below her dress and slid up her thigh, exposing it.
Significantly less sexy but still very cool - an act by George and Dick. Two people walk out in suits and masks, one as Dick Cheney, the other as George Bush. They walk up to each other and start taking each other's clothes off, until they are left as two almost-naked female bodies, with bare, hanging breasts, in G-strings, with Bush and Cheney masks. Celine Dion's "God Bless America" is blaring in the background. Truly frightening.
The women then walk towards a kiddie pool they have open and empty on the stage. One picks up a canister labeled with the Shell logo, and starts pouring a brown substance onto the other. Soon they are both smearing oil all over each other's bodies.
Garnet thought it was hot.
I'm sorry, but in my opinion, no one in a Bush or Cheney mask can qualify as hot, under any circumstances. Just, no.
Other highlights included:
* A bunch of drag kings dressed as sperm, dancing around and fighting each other to get into and fertilize an egg, all done to Eminem's "Lose Yourself."
* A woman stripping behind a screen that was painted like a spider web. You couldn't see her, but you could see the outline of her body, plus the shapes of the articles of clothing she was taking off. As she danced, she occasionally moved back towards the light, making her huge and terrifying, and then she'd walk back towards the screen and return to her normal size.
* A woman dancing around with a huge bubble and then climbing inside of it.
* Margaret Cho doing an awesomely sexy strip tease, drawing out the last moment, taking off her panties but keeping herself covered with the huge red wings she's been fluttering around with for the duration of her dance, until finally, she lifts the wings to reveal... a dick.
