The One Who Could Not Be Killed

Dec 31, 2006 14:47

Mohammed called me a couple nights ago. We'd already talked earlier that day, but he wanted to let me know that Hussein had just been executed.

"How do you feel about that?" I asked him. I know Mohammed is Shia and his family had left Iraq to get away from Hussein's regime and then gone back after Hussein fell.

He said it was a miracle.

"Does that mean you don't hate Bush anymore?" I asked him.

He hesitated. "I don't know," he said.

"No, Mohammed!" I cried. "The correct answer is no. The correct answer is, no, I still despise the evil little bastard."

"I think maybe I like him now," he said. "He killed the one who could not be killed."

It made me think of Voldemort for some reason.

Anyway, he was at work and had to go right away, so I could not debate the issue.
