*sniff* I killed my poor baby ...

Nope, I'm not talking about my Mac, it's about the other baby ... NO, not the guitar either, damnit, my CAR!

Yes, as you might have heard (or not) I totaled my car last sunday when I was on my way to meet up with Barb.
I think I'm still not totally sure what happened, but looks like it was "just" a case of aquaplaning. It was raining on and off sunday morning so I wasn't driving fast, but apparently still too fast when the back of my car swerved out in a long left turn on the highway (Autobahn :P haha). It felt like some giant hit it with a hammer. I tried to catch it, but there was no chance, and I oversteered I think, so I hit the guard rail with the left side first, slammed off of it, turned and crashed into it with the front of the card ... that was the moment when I realized that the shit really hit the fan this time. I spun around once or twice after that and ended standing in the right direction downhill, so I could roll to the side of the street. Fortunately there were no other cars around at that moment.

The really really unfair thing is, that about a minute after the crash the rain stopped AND in the time it still rained like crazy, two other cars came around much faster than I was and nothing happened. So why me?

I guess I was still kinda lucky as I was not hurt at all aside from a mild whiplash. At least I think it's just a mild one as my neck feels kinda normal again. I think.
On Sunday it actually did hurt and a headache and a sore arm (not sure whether it came from clutching the steering wheel or from the wheel violently turning around when I hit the curbs). I was close to going to the docs and am again right now, cause someone told me today he had a whiplash some years ago, it went away and 6 months after that he had a herniated disc because of that whiplash. Maybe I'll go in some weeks, but honestly at the moment I don't have the money (yes I have health insurance, but I have to pay it myself first and get it back some months later). I still have to find a new car, pay the punishment from the police (yes they do that) and the damaged crash barrier.

What really really sucks about this aside from the fact that I loved the car and it served me for more than 200.000 km now is that I just spent 1.500 Euro in fixing it.

Yes, I know you're picture whores ... here they are :P

Looks strangely peaceful the way she's lying there, huh?
Yes, my car was female, I called her "Diva"
And you can see the fucking sun shining again ... 5 minutes after the crash.
Here the picture where you can really see the damage:

Yep, totally destroyed front, cracked radiator, and deformed frame.
What you can't see is the damaged left side (no pictures from there) which made the crap twice as expensive to repair.

What do you mean? Doesn't look that bad? Well, I agree there, it IS fixable, but it would cost more than the car is actually worth at the moment. So an economical total loss, which means: The car is dead. R.I.P.

Here is why I had to spend 1.500 EUR in the car recently:

On the way to the WGT in Leipzig:

What's missing here? Right, the v-belt ... cost: 200 Eur

Only two days later, when I wanted to bring Barb to the airport in Leipzig:

Yep, car broken again, partway from because it overheated when the v-belt ripped the first time.
Cost to repair this time: 1.250 Eur (v-belt, drive belt, some fittings, a clutch at the v-belt, some other stuff and all 4 brakes were done, too)

and 1 1/2 weeks later I killed the car ... so it was for nothing

In a way it was bound to happen sooner or later, in the last 10 years I drove around 550.000 km (yes, half a million) and was lucky more than once, but it sucks big time.

Oh, I should mention the great people from ADAC (german automobile club), if you're a member there, you get your car towed away for free and if it's not immediatley fixable get a rental car for a week FOR FREE!
So that's what I'm driving right now ... the rental ... and it sucks. But it's not the car's fault I think. Mostly I loved my car and it just feels weird at the moment to drive at all.

I think the accident affected me more than I want to admit, because I slept over 30 hours since Sunday ... more than 10 hours a day. I'm just incredibly exhausted at the moment without really doing anything.

But at least I think I have a new car on Friday ... well, a new really old one. It costs just a little more than the crashed one is worth. Yes that's right, I sold the crashed red wreck for enough to get me a running car with paying just a little to it. Mmmh, I guess that says a lot about the car I'm getting, huh?

Kay, I'm off to bed now, slept already 3 hours tonight, but still tired like hell *sigh*

On a sidenote: Does anyone else have problems with messangers like MSN or Yahoo right now or is my router fucked up again?
