Contacts or Glasses?
Hello all, I have a dilemma and I wanted to seek the advice of people who are visually impaired like me who would understand. I have heard many fully sighted peoples opinions already.
As stated in the title I don't know whether to get contacts or stick with my glasses. I have worn glasses since I was a year old. I don't like how I look in them and I want to get contacts so that I will look better, but I talked to my eye doctor and he said that if I get contacts it will decrease my vision because of my high prescription lenses.
I don't know what to do. My eye doctor said that aside from it making my vision worse it would be too hard to put in and there would be risk of the ends cutting my eyes causing infection. He never really specified how much my vision would worsen compared to now. I also think that personal appearance is very important whether you are blind or not. It makes you feel good knowing that you look good on the outside and feel good on the inside both contributing to a persons overall attractivness. So, yeah I don't know whether to choose vision over beauty or vise versa. My sighted friends have all said that I need to have as much vision as I can and decreasing it would be silly, but they don't know what it's like to be visually impaired to begin with.
Any thoughts?
