gcn woes
Hi all,
Ok, I downloaded gcn, had to do it directly from the gcn home page, because the gcn-setup.zip wouldn't work. winzip said it didn't seem to be a valid archive, and to either open the archive, and create one. When i move around the menus, jaws doesn't stay focused there long, and i have to arrow through quickly when i'm going through them before jaws loses focus and jumps out of them. The keystrokes seem to work ok, but when i entered a chat room, i couldn't tell if there was any text or not, and when i typed hello and hit enter, jaws wouldn't read my own text. according to the message i keep getting when i sign on, and the help link, the screen resolution has to be set at a certain level in pixels, and i never can remember which level that is, and according to the program, my pixel setting is too low, and it says if i don't set my screen resolution to that particular pixel setting, gcn won't display properly, and i don't know if thats the trouble, or if my jaws just isn't workable with it, but if I adjust my pixel setting for the resolution they want, jaws might not read correctly anywhere. When i was in a room, jaws read the list of who was in the room, and when i went to the edit field, jaws recognized it as an edit field, but it wouldn't read my text back when i arrowed up and down. I'm really disappointed, because it looks like a good program, but jaws is having trouble with it, and i currently as yet don't have anyone to experiment with, to try and figure out what i need to do. It played a sound when i was in a room, but what ever was going on, i had no idea, the sound could've been anything, a pm, I just don't know, because I couldn't find out either from the pc cursor, or the jaws cursor. I noticed jaws read the room topic automatically, wish i could make it read text. Shucks.
