I am a person who loves to travel, has an insane comfort level with debt, and can be too generous for my own good. But that said I always have considered my options and taken the steps available to me, that I was made aware of, to make plans and contingencies for my future. I never put these things off.

As far as you running into people who are choosing to prepare for the holidays instead of perhaps investing in life insurance, I absolutely understand this. Times have been rough lately and for a lot of us, there hasn't been a great deal of improvement. But the holidays are here and many people just want a sense of "normal" and with that comes getting a tree, buying a gift or two, and maybe spending a little money for twinkle lights that lift their spirits. And that's okay.
When the new year strikes and a new chapter has begun, people might be more receptive to planning for 2012 and the years that follow.
