We spent the afternoon at my sister's place, with overexcited small children dressed as fairies and princesses hurling themselves around the place. We don't need psychoactive recreational drugs if we can bottle whatever it is that's going on in the heads of the under-5s. They are quite mad.
It was a good day, lots of fun. There were, of course, tears before bedtime caused by over-tiredness and the overwhelming NEEEEEED to all use a scooter indoors at once, but things settled down eventually and all the kids were packed off to bed after we all got cuddles. There's nothing like a small child being cuddly with you and whispering that they really love you a really big lot to make you forgive their utterly manic behaviour earlier on.
Which is when the silliness really began. Eight adults and one
Wii Fit. Recipe for complete madness. I have discovered that I'm not a natural ski jumper - I crashed about seven times before I managed my first jump. The hula hoop game was hilarious, and it turns out I married Snake Hips. I was shattered, though, and my parents realised I just wouldn't have it in me to walk the few minutes home, so I got a lift back. T came in at about 3am. Apparently 4 of them stayed up on the Wii, and then switched to
Guitar Hero. I was really impressed by the Wii Fit. I could see myself playing one of those games even if I was quite ill, even if only for 10 minutes. Good fun. Also the occasion of my sister's penchant for unfortunate photos, but you can't have everything...
It snowed overnight. The church steeple looks odd because half of it is covered in snow, so it looks really skinny. The birds are perched on the very highest extremes of the neighbours' big tree. There is as yet no sign of feline incursion on the immaculate snow on the patio.
