Job stuff

My last day at Wegowise is Friday. Yay! It's only gotten more ridiculous in the last few weeks.

I've got 3 offers right now.

1. A start up called 'Rock the Deadline'. They want me to do a 3 month contract and if things are going well at that point they would bring me on as their first employee. The compensation that they offered was not great, and it's risky. They were honest about that, and have asked me to come back with a better number for compensation.

2. Informz, a company up in Saratoga Springs that does back end software for NBC's commercial (as in TV commercial) sales. Basically they try to figure out demographics so they can do targeted commercials. Great offer, although the vacation time is only 3 weeks (I have 4 now), they do give you an additional week of 'personal education time' which you can take to learn a new skill (programming or otherwise each year). This would be another work from home job (which I don't love working from home) but I could be in the office whenever I wanted, although I'd be the only one there from my group. The end client is in NYC and I would have to travel there occasionally.

3. Another company up in Saratoga Springs, Mad Glory. I've known the people in this company for awhile now. I'd call them friends, although not 'hide a body' level of friend. It's a bunch of younger guys and they do back end software for video games. They're really hard workers, work on some fun stuff and are constantly pushing their envelope technology wise. The funny thing about this one is that I hadn't really known they were looking for anyone and I had originally just intended to work from their office after an interview with Informz. I got chatting with the guy who runs the company and when he heard I was looking for a job offered me one on the spot, starting as a consultant, with intent to hire in 5-6 months. The rate was very good. Long term if I decided to work there as a perm their benefits are decent, but the base pay is somewhat low. They do profit sharing and with that their pay was more than I made last year.

I've got a lot of thinking to do this weekend. :/
