(no subject)
so i spent a good portion of my free time this week going back through lj and putting tags on entries. categorization has always been one of those things i've enjoyed doing. i'm sure i haven't perfected the entries or anything, and of course, not all entries are tagged, and a few have multiple tags. but i'd say i have a good collection of stuff, and it surprisingly took less time than i thought. here's some of my categories.
the geekiness, meme, rambly, ranty, pictures, and vague tags are all pretty straightforward. no explanations needed.
listy - for those entries that include some sort of list. turns out there were tons of these. i list things a lot.
pre-lj story - for those entries that contain a recalling of something that happened or was going on before this journal ever existed.
voice - just for voice posts. perhaps that's straightforward too.
*smacks head* - for those entries that mention "d'oh!" moments, like when i toasted ham for a few seconds. there probably should be more of these than i found. but i didn't skim.
recap - now, this could be straghtforward too, but since so much of journaling involves recaps of days and whatnot, i really only saved this tag for entries that recapped really significant things, like a trip somewhere or a significant event of some kind.
random - these entries i wanted to tag but had no real category for. there was usually something about that entry that made me want to have an easier time finding it. some of these entries actually include the completely random. most of it is sillyness, but sometimes it's something else. i don't know. it's all random, after all, hence it's the random tag.
it was interesting to go back and look through all this stuff, and see how the tags were distributed. for instance, there's a heavy distribution of ranty and rambly entries in November of '04. i was writing a lot that month for some reason. probably because i was living in Miami and had very little to actually -do-, so writing took a lot of my time. *wonders if i wrote 50,000 words that month* doubt it, but that'd be pretty funny if i did.
nonetheless, tagness is complete, and now i can easily tag from here on out! fun!
