Well, there was that part where Maddie was callous enough to go "yeah, your friend just died and we all hated him, but hey, you liked him so that's something, right?"

And I thought at least Jude liked him and would be a little bit more...oh, I don't know, less douchey?

Maddie's being realistic. And she means it when she says that Elliot is better than the rest of them because he did see something in Nori that no one else did and that matters. It really does.

As for being callous or douchey? I don't see it, personally. Jude took him out after the wake. They went out and got a miserable friend drunk. Happens every day. Elliot couldn't stick around, staring at Nori's stuff. All it would do was break him more. Callous would have been leaving him alone in an over-medicated state to just cry into nothingness about something he can't change.

They're young, drunk, they're horny, and this huge thing that actually doesn't impact them has landed on them because they care about Elliot. That's a hard world to navigate.
