Much has been made of the Gizmodo blogger who had a search warrant executed against him and some of his computers confiscated.
Many bloggers, absolutely clueless about these things, are claiming that the journalistic shield laws apply to the Gizmodo miscreant and that he has a free pass because he was writing a story.
Sorry, dude, you're full of crap. That journalistic shield law says that the police can't take your stuff and try to get you to reveal your source.
It doesn't say that you get a free pass if you commit felony receiving stolen goods.
That's like saying a journalist can commit murder as long as he writes a story about it.
