So second semester has started (and I'm already trying frantically to catch up)and even though I haven't had any major exams yet, they are all looming in the near future. Plus that horrible cold/ flu thats going around hit me pretty bad. So I spent a week and a half exhausted and drugged up on cold meds.
The most interesting thing about this semester is that for one of our classes we have to volunteer/ work some shifts at the clinic. So a couple of Saturdays ago I worked the ICU in the afternoon. It was interesting but kind of boring. There wasn't really anything going on. Every hour we checked on them and took care of any directions in their file. Which generally consisted of checking the IV pumps, and taking a couple of respiration rates, and cleaning the kennels whenever they peed in them ( and one of them was undergoing chemo for a tumor that was removed from on the bladder and he peed about ever ten minutes.)
Then today I worked in Orthopedics. And the whole point of us going over there is to start giving us some experience, but I stood around with the fourth years while we looked at a couple of X rays. Thats pretty much it. It was the first day they shifted rotations around and none of them knew what they were doing let alone knowing enough to help me do something.
Well now its 8 o'clock and I haven't even started studying yet. This is going to be a couple of long agonizing weeks.
