Writer's Block: Neuromancer

Oct 07, 2008 16:26

Hmm... Well, I suppose that depends on where the impact is. Personally, Neuromancer had a large impact, as well as all of William Gibson's other novels and stories. They have all changed the way I look at the world, albeit for the more cynical.

If we are talking impact on the world, however, the Harry Potter series (as much as I hate to admit it) has been very influential with young writers and readers worldwide. The simplicity and accesibility of the novels have allowed millions to enter into the world of fantasy and, hopefully, opened their eyes and broadened their horizons to read more books. It is sad that anymore people spend more time reading the info on what movie they are watching than a book. Books open your mind to new ideas, force your imagination into overdrive, and make you think about all the "what if?"s that you wouldn't think of otherwise.
