Yuletide Letter 2014

General Info:
This is my third Yuletide! I always have a blast, and am super excited to see what this year holds

I love fics that do worldbuilding, focus on details brushed over in canon, or explore different consequences from things that happen in canon.  I like a bit of romance, but I'd prefer it to not be the main focus. All these requests you could choose canon characters or make original characters, or both. All I ask is that ocs with major roles not be related to or romantically involved with any canon characters.

I'm fine with any level of gore, and a lot of darker themes, but I don't want to read any graphic rape. It can be mentioned, or referred to since it's a thing that happens, especially in disasters and when social constructs collapse, but frankly if it goes into a lot of detail I'm going to skip over it. Sorry!

Here's the more specific requests that are also on my sign up. I tried to keep them fairly general, and I'm sure I'll be happy with whatever you feel inspired to write!

BioShock Infinite
I guess she wasn’t nominated, so obviously this is even lighter a suggestion than normal, but Daisy Fitzroy. I adore her. I’d really love something on her rise to the head of the revolution.
Or, you could do the story of the Booker Dewitt who joins up with the revolution, who believes in the cause but doesn’t think it will actually change anything except get people killed, and has to be blackmailed into helping
Or really I’d love anything dealing with the Revolution

World War Z- Max Brooks
What I like best about the zombie apocalypse is the struggle between what people are willing to do survive versus whether they can live with themselves and what might push them to cross a line they never dreamed they would cross. And in general, the breakdown of socially constructed boundaries in the face of tragedy and terror.
So I would love an interview that explores these kinds of things, and it would be really cool if it was set in a part of the world or in a time period not covered in the book.

Dawn of the Dead (1978)
It seems with most zombie apocalypse movies, books, etc, the fall of government and structured human society either happens really quickly or is skipped over, so I find the beginning of Dawn really interesting, with society slowly collapsing in on itself. I would like a closer look at that month or so between Night of the Living Dead and Dawn, with all the confusion and panic of people and the government struggling to understand the scope of what’s happening and trying to stem the tide. I’m cool with any of the characters, or original characters.
Or, as also stated in my World War Z request I also love zombie stories where people have to make difficult moral decisions based on how far they’re willing to go to survive, versus what they can stand living with, so something like would also be awesome.

Newsflesh Trilogy - Mira Grant
Someone without a gun gets trapped in a room, elevator, etc with someone who’s infected because the infected person was tested first. Can be anyone, even an original character. Whether the uninfected character survives or not is up to you.

Brazil
What if, instead of pursuing Jill past the point of good common sense Sam rises high enough in the ranks to become a torturer? How would he deal with it psychologically?
Or, any torturer really. What coping methods do they use? Detachment, denial, anger, etc
