A few weeks ago I mentioned some frustrations experienced while working crossword puzzles. Here's another one, one I experienced today.
Throughout much of my life I've used/seen/preferred "Czar" to refer to the one time rulers of Russia. However, whenever that has been the answer on a crossword puzzle, it has invariably been with the alternate spelling of "Tsar." So today I as I'm doing the morning paper's crosswords, I come across a clue asking for the "historical rulers of Russia." After long experience in what puzzles generally expect, I quickly pen in, "Tsar." Well as I'm working the down clues I come across a couple that force me to change my original response to "Czar," which is what I would have put in the first place, other than for the fact that every time I'd done so in the past, I was eventually forced to change it to "Tsar!"
'Nuff griping, I suppose. Just one of those little details of daily existence that makes life interesting. Anyway, here are a couple pics of this years Christmas lights. I put them up about a week ago, roughly the same time as I last posted here. Maybe I'm lazy, but I just didn't feel like putting any on the bushes and trees this year. Next year I'd like to go away from the so-called icicle lites and have colored single bulb strings... something a bit more traditional as I see it.
This year's Xmas Lites!
Just getting dark... the moon in the trees and lights along the front of the house starting to take effect.
Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and or Joyous Holidays, whatever and whichever you celebrate!
