Picked Andrea up on Saturday morning and helped her set up at Sydney Uni. We had a team of makeup artists and a hair dresser there beautifying the ladies while the F100 was also getting a facial.
I went home to change and met the others in the city, where I greeted with a pleasing sight, fabulous damaged derby girls spanning a length of the park up Elizabeth street.
I got additional blood smears and glitter launched all over me and then it was a waiting game in the secure parade area until night fell. The atmosphere was amazing with so many people loud and proud all around us. The costumes were incredible as always and the floats spectacular.
Our float was modest but tight. We had large magnets done up to complement the ute, some great banners and hired sound and lighting equipment to drown out the disco music coming from all sides. I was having a wicked time skating up Oxford Street, waving to the cheering crowds and posing for photos until my wheel fell off midway and I had to make a quick change into shoes.
Far from finished when the parade was over I made my way to Trash and Treasure where I was on the door as a jelly wrestler. I became increasingly nervous as I realised what a big crowd was going to watch. I got completely slammed in the first round and escaped with wounded pride and scratch marks on my face, but had awesome fun nonetheless!
The party was great and I didn't head home until late, looking forward to having a shower to wash the jelly out of uncomfortable places.
