TALES OF HEARTS; TRANSLATION

Jul 27, 2009 00:20

Hey guys... THIS IS IT. Tales of Hearts: THE SCRIPT

  • Please note that I had a time limit to translate the entire thing. That time limit was three weeks. While I did have time to go back and edit it, the script is still probably littered with mistakes.
  • As you play/read, if you notice mistakes or have suggestions for better alternatives, please let me know!
  • Due to the time constraint, only the main plot dialogue was translated. What was left out was: the skits, sidequests, optional dialogue, battle voices, and a few information texts (I'm sure you can figure out how to use the Sorcerer's Ring after the first time you use it :|). If I go through a second playthrough--which I probably am, since I'm working towards enough grade to have 2x exp--I'll probably go back and include some of these.
  • A lot of the translations for names are personal preference. Some examples of these are: Lithia, Kohaku, Chalcedony, Velleia. Lithia's last name, Spodune, is based off the mineral spodumene which is closely related to the rock kunzite and hints at the presence of lithium... or something like that. So it makes sense to me to call her Lithia. 'Kohak' to me sounds like 'cough hack'. Chalcedony is a real mineral, and can be both pronounced as I spell it, 'calsedoughneee', or as the Japanese spell it (chalcedny), 'calsedneeee.' Both pronunciations are correct, but not the spellings. Velleia, the name of the Church, is also the name of a plant, and since it worships Cendrillion/Lithia, it makes sense that it would follow the plant theme.
  • All names I couldn't come up with a translation for, I referenced GreenFire1's walkthrough on GameFAQs.
  • Well, it is personal preference so if you want to call Lithia "Muffin pants," go right ahead. No one's stopping you. xD
  • I had trouble hearing what Shing says in the last animated cutscene. I got "違うよ、ガルデニア。一人ぼっちのスピリアに開いた無限に(の?)闇を[WHAT]ものは、、、" I can't hear it ;_; So if you know what he says there, do you mind helping me out? The video is this one, and starts at 9:47. Temporarily in the script I made something up, but it's going to bother me into eternity...
  • I ran around with Hisui as my on-screen character, so in scenes that change depending on the onscreen character, Hisui will be saying it. However, they're little things like "I got the gummy liquor, yay!" so it should basically be the same thing for every character. I'll probably go back and fix this on a second playthrough.
  • I can think of three scenes at the top of my head that will change depending on the player: The mandatory arena fights in Yuraio, the first battle with Chalcedony, and the first battle with Incarose. In the arena fight, you get to choose between Beryl and Innes. I chose Innes, so of course if you end up choosing Beryl, your dialogue will be different. Same with the battles; they're the kind that even if you lose, the story will continue. I lost the Chalcedony fight and won the Incarose one. So obviously, if you win the Chalcedony fight and lose the Incarose one, your dialogue will be different. This will probably be fixed on a second playthrough.
  • Link/Post this wherever you want to but at least credit me ;_; I usually don't care about crediting but I spent three weeks of my life, every waking moment of those three weeks sitting on my butt involved in this game. THIS IS ALL I ASK OF YOU. plz ;_;
  • Ummmmmmmm, I think that's it! I'll include these notes at the beginning of the document so people who have the download link but not this post know what's up.
  • There's a .doc version and a .txt version. Let me know if there are problems with either.
  • ENJOY THE GAME!!!!
