EErrrr... no pictures yet, but kinda the con rundown.
I guess con time actually started like... last week. I spent every freakin waking moment trying to finish everything. I got everything of mine done that I was supposed to get done but Alex's Flynn costume ended up only half done. :< I stayed up about 4/5ish every night last week working on costumes and then waking up the next morning and just resuming my work. It was really exhausting and stressful because just AGH. I broke out like wednesday night too from stress which SUCKED because I was so pumped for having a gorgeous face for once ;_; but no. I'll live.
Tuesday we picked up Raina and Wednesday Haley came and that night Annie came, too. Raina and Alex burnt my Luke cape which ended up looking really cool despite the plastic while I slaved away on Flynn. Everything was totally and utterly done except the black part of the tunic. Y'know, where his blastia is. I was dying of stress and being tired that night that as soon as I woke up I went straight back to Alex's and tried to finish as much as I could before leaving for the con. My dad came home from work at around 230 and he and I managed to get to Alex's house to pick everyone else up by 3:10ish (a little later than I wanted) but we actually did not leave Alex's house until 3:50. That... took way to long. And LUCKY US! DC/Baltimore area was getting to be rush hour-y so it took waaaaaaaay long to get there. We ended up arriving at like..... 5:something ish? Traffic was bad. It usually takes about 50 minutes to get there but not this time.
So we dumped all of our stuff in the room and hopped in the pre-reg line with Kaitlan and Mel and that was a wonderful time. I don't even know what we did after that but we headed out to Alex's birthday dinner and it was so incredibly freakin' hard to find (thanks, Otakon map). I bought her dinner and had a wonderful thing of nabe udon and life was sort of good I guess. We stopped by the nearby CVS on the way out and then headed back to the hotel, and started to try to finish all that was left of Alex's stuff.
Friday was beginning of HELL. I don't even remember when I woke up but I started to get ready and stuff and trying to finish Alex's Guy gloves which drove me up the wall and I had gotten into Yuri when she decided not to be Flynn. Welllll okay, I guess. I kinda couldn't cosplay Yuri if she wasn't going to be Flynn so I turbo changed into Luke, and she got into Guy. That day is really just a blur. I know me, her, and Mel went into the little food court place attached to the con center looking for Starbucks, but it was GONE. THERE WAS NONE. The looks on our faces was probably something similar to D8. ...It was really bad. So we went back to the con center Starbucks but the employees there were giving us such an attitude. I've never had that problem before with Starbucks and it wasn't a nice experience. :/
Anyway, we probably went out to eat because I spent most of my $200 on food. And then we hit the dealers' room. I don't know exactly why I bothered looking, but I wanted to find the Hearts perfect guide or any other Hearts merchandise for that matter, so I went to that bookstore and picked up the Vesperia artbook instead. It was totally worth it because DUKE CONCEPT ART. FUCK YEA
After that we went to the Tales shoot. It was kind of funny because throughout the day as we were walking around, I ran into about three other (normal) Lukes and I would walk next to them... BUT THEY WOULDN'T SAY ANYTHING. They didn't recognize me, at all. We wound up crossing a group of Jade, Luke, Tear, and Guy, and ironically only the Jade recognized me. At the shoot though, one of the million Judiths was like SOOOO, YOU LOOK REALLY FAMILIAR. WHAT ALTERNATE COSTUME ARE YOU? And I was like, here's a hint: I have 30 seconds of screen time. And she was like OHHHHHH MR. ENDING!! Yes. That's me ;D There was a whole bunch of Symphonia this year, probably due to the release of Symphonia 2 in November because last year there were about 5 Symphonia people. Lots of Abyss, as usual (and I did not help this problem), some Vesperia, and two Destiny. This is strange for an Otakon Tales because there's usually a game represented that's a little more obscure, or at least more of Destiny or idk whatever. BUT! It was the first time I'd seen an Asch (hahah hey Ashley), long haired Luke, short haired Luke, and ending Luke all in the same place at once. It was awesome. I have a lot of pictures of Friday.
So I was like, okay, even though our armor didn't quite turn out as planned, I'M GOING BACK TO THE ROOM TO CHANGE INTO SCHWANN (my supposed 'surprise') BECAUSE ALISON'S YEAGER IS REALLY EPIC AND I FEEL BAD NOT PARADING AROUND WITH HER. Alex and I headed off back to the room and I gave her a quick dye job and she changed into Asbel. I managed to attach most of the armor to me, but the thigh pieces would not stay and I couldn't find the shoulder piece. ...So I gave up and changed into Hisui. I was really disappointed because I put actual effort into Schwann and no matter how dumb the armor looked, I would have worn it anyway...
I caught up with Alex and Mel at Mel's dgray shoot and this happened in some sort of order: Mel changed into Edgeworth, we went to eat, Mel went to her other photoshoot. Or did we eat after Alex and I sat around on the fourth floor? I don't remember. But after Alex and I were on our own we kinda wandered around like, yeah... this con kinda sucks so far. :/ It came way too early this year and a lot of things didn't end up as planned. So we decided we were going to take pictures outside later and so we sat next to an outlet and she was charging her camera and I was charging my DS. Then some dude came up to us and was like OH MY GOD! And to Alex, he said, YOUR GAME ISN'T EVEN OUT YET!! Seriously, it was so amazing it made our night. I gave him a dollar. He recognized me too but he's like durr I don't remember your name. xD We watched the duck duck goose game going on and it was mildly amusing, I guess. Mel came back up with us and we found Alison and we went to go take pictures. ...IT WAS HUMID. I used my real hair for Hisui because it was easy to pull off with my hair, and by the time we ended our little mini shoot, MY HAIR WAS A POOFBALL. It was incredibly gross.
We ended up back at the room about... 1ish? I took a shower and started painting the Soma. There's one thing about me that goes with painting, that I seriously get into it when I paint. So even well after everyone was asleep I kept painting. I didn't skip out on any details or make it any easier for me but woawaowl. So once I was done, I took a glance outside the window... and it was getting light out. THE SUN WAS COMING UP. It was like freakin 5:35 AM.
Saturday I woke up at around 9:45ish. ...Which is incredibly late for me. I'm used to waking up around 8 for Saturday mornings for cons. But whatever. I was so tired I started laughing. I fixed up my Soma a little bit and started to get dressed but I couldn't find part of my makeup which was freaking me out. I had to use Kaitlan's and I looked like a ghost. :< Alex lost her badge so we had to sneak her in and we just just managed to make it to the con in time for the panel... at 2:30. So we hung around outside our panel room before going in.
Our panel went okay, I guess? I mean, we really dont know how to run a panel and we thought we were organized but we kind of went through the plot rundown really quickly. We tried avoiding spoilers, but with DtB it was incredibly hard. Everyone we talked to enjoyed our panel but we still remain doubtful. :< Anyway, Alison and I ran back to our hotel room to get dressed out of DtB and into Tales to try to make it to the shoot. Except I made it there and... MY badge was missing. What the hell. I looked all over and I couldn't have dropped it somewhere. It was just gone. Alex had to sneak me in and I managed to make it to the shoot just as it was dwindling, I guess. I don't know what games were represented, but DDAAAAAMN Hearts represent. Hisui is badass. We were recognized three times, more than we were in Guy and Luke which was sad. Anyway, after that, me, Alex, Mel, Alison, Deanna, Vil, and a few other people went to Panera for lunch/dinner and managed to just just make it to the Tales panel. Alex and I were nuts. SORRY, ANYBODY WE BOTHERED. Like, waving our Soma in the air and like making dumb comments. Well, that was mostly Alex, but still. Lol at a few things: "So, I played through the entirety of Vesperia, and THE PLOT DOESN'T NEED A FUCKING PIRATE." No Hearts opening ;_; We tried, really. "Every archer in the Tales games suck." me: "EXCUSE ME. 8|". "In Tales of Hearts, what is Kohaku's weapon?" No, it's NOT a sword.
After there was a mini Tales shoot that I had a blast in. I kinda like. Was nuts. SORRY AGAIN TO ANYONE I BOTHERED. It was really hard to bend my arms in my Soma so I had Alex do my goggle stuff for me. And I chatted a little bit with people from Luceti. But I mean I pretty much know most of you already so that's kind of abuhhh. And HOLY SHIT, ALEX. I was just standing there and SUDDENLY THERE WAS A SHING ON MY BACK. I didn't fall over or anything but it was just like WAPAM. Hahahahhasldgjalskgjefjdlk
After that we went back to the hotel and then headed out to meet with others to get some bubble tea. And after bubble tea, Alex, Mel and I headed to eat dinner. I almost lost my little belt thingy BUT I FOUND IT. There was also a $50 bill laying on the floor. We tried to turn it in to security and they asked like if it was found with an ID or a wallet or something, but it was next to a lemon slice on the floor and that's what I wanted to say. But I didn't. I would have been punched. xD I think we headed back to the room after that. Alex sort of changed out of Shing and I put on flip-flops (HOLY COW THOSE PLATFORMS I WORE ALL WEEKEND PAINED MY FEEEEEEEEET) and we headed out to take pictures of Mel. It was difficult because there wasn't really any place with good lighting to take them. So we settled for the hotel lobby annnd headed back to the room when we were done. I took my shower, kinda sorta gathered up my stuff and conked out.
Alex was surprisingly the first one up this morning and we decided that we wanted to hit the dealers' room one last time to find stuff cos we really didn't get the chance on Saturday. I had worn my tank top lover Yuri costume to bed so there really wasn't much to change into our out of, and Alex put on kitty-cat waitress Rita, got Mel, quick-packed and headed out. Alex really wanted Hearts, but a) it's around $60, and b) it was sold out. SOLD OUT. This happened last time, too. I don't remember if it was Katsu or last year's Otakon, but whatever con we wore Innocence to, the game sold out in the dealers' room. ARE WE A WALKING ADVERTISEMENT? Probably. They only had the CGI version left but pfff like I was going to get that for her. We ate lunch like twice and stuff and yea. Alex and I got more recognition as Yuri and Rita than we did Guy and Luke. And of course more than Shing and Hisui, but still. THAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR, TOO. We were Rid and Farah and we were ambushed like everywhere like OMG BLAST FROM THE PAST PICTURE PLZ.
We ate a second lunch with some of the people that Alex knows and then left. We dropped off Haley and Raina at Alex's house and I went home and pretty much just fell asleep. And here I am.
I didn't get too many pictures but I have to figure out a way to upload the little that I did take (around 20, usually I get well over 100) since my desktop doesn't like my SD card. I got a lot of Friday's Tales shoot and just a bunch of random people.
In short: stressful con was INSANELY stressful, to the point that I don't even know if it was worth it. I didn't end up wearing Yuri or Schwann (which I was really looking forward to, too :< My hair was perfect) and I got to experience the fun of losing my con badge, costumes falling apart, infecting my thumb with a safety pin prick, burning off half my middle finger, etc. I seriously feel like I spent more time in the hotel room than I did the convention center, which hasn't really happened before and it kinda pissed me off. The hotel room got really messy too which stressed me out even more. And now, even though I kinda just woke up from a nap, I'm still exhausted. AGH.
You'll also have to wait for pictures because I'm going to be scouring the internet for stuff of interest since I don't really have any. :< Alex and I never got around to photoshooting Hisui and Shing and we don't have any of Yuri and Rita. Oh well.
