Character Name: Garfield Logan / Beast Boy (will be going by his codename)
Canon source: Teen Titans the Animated Series/Teen Titans Go! (Canon AU of DCU)
Personality: Beast Boy is incredibly carefree, somewhat scatterbrained and very immature. He’s always cracking really bad jokes and he genuinely thinks he’s a funny guy, though most of the time people just humour him and often his attempts at jokes tend to fall on deaf ears. He also has a love for playing elaborate practical jokes, his main victim of these being his fellow Titan, Cyborg. The more planning, duct tape and levers involved the better. But with all this furious planning and elaborate blueprints he comes up with, Beast Boy is not all that bright, and has a rather fabulous lack of tact, which leads to him often putting his foot in his mouth, and screwing himself over.
His carefree attitude to life most likely stems from the captain of The Doom Patrol (his previous team) who believed in strict discipline and left no margin for error or fun. This often left him very timid and unsure of himself, and being with the Titans gives him confidence and allows him to be himself rather than having to suppress his personality. At heart, Beast Boy is a dedicated and loving friend and would be the first one to rush in and help, and the last to abandon you.
Beast Boy is a strict vegan, and refuses to eat anything that he can turn into and is constantly trying to persuade his friends to adopt his culinary tastes as well which usually doesn’t go down all too well.
History:
http://dc.wikia.com/wiki/Garfield_Logan_%28Earth-Teen_Titans%29This Beast Boy is not the DCU one, he’s from a Canon AU from the earth called Earth-Teen Titans, and he is very different from the comics version of Gar. I’d be happy to write an indepth history if need be.
How does your AU differ from canon? This Canon AU is set on Earth-Teen Titans (yes it is really called that, I checked), where all the superheroes of the world are teenagers, but Batman is vaguely alluded to from time to time. Because of Robin’s obsession with fighting crime, practically all the good aligned teenagers who have any type of power have a communicator and are honorary Titans. Robin likes to give them out like pamphlets. The main differences are that the main team (made up of Robin [Dick Greyson version], Starfire, Raven, Cyborg and Beast Boy) all live in a giant T on an Island in the middle of a harbour in a made up city and have wackier adventures than their DCU counterparts (for example, Beast Boy once had to save hundreds of cows from an evil space tofu who was set on changing all the meat on earth to a non-meat substitute. He saved them on a moped. I am not making this shit up).
Strengths: Beast Boy has rather a literal name in that can shapeshift into any animal he sees. Dinosaurs, amoeba and alien creatures included. When he’s transformed he takes the skills and strengths of that particular animal. For example, if he was a cheetah he could run really fast, if he was a gorilla he could have immense strength and if he was a bloodhound he could follow a trail of a criminal. The only things that are different about his shapeshifting and the original animal is that every animal he turns into is green, like him and also has the same ‘snagglefang’. He can also talk when he is in other forms, but chooses not to most of the time since he’s usually fighting and needs to look threatening. He can also shift from one form to another very quickly and without the need to return to his original form. Beast Boy is also a master of video games, a decent hacker, and can show leadership and intellectual qualities in a jam.
Weaknesses: The main weakness of Beast Boy, when powers is concerned, is that with his power he can get tired. The others don’t seem to understand it since they assume if Beast Boy can fly he’ll be fine. His powers do stem from his own strength, and like you would get tired after running a mile, so does Beast Boy. Beast Boy is not all that bright either, and has a lack of tact, which leads to him often putting his foot in his mouth, and screwing himself over. His ex-team mate Terra is also a touchy subject, and he has a major weakness for her. This can lead to outbursts of a rather nasty temper that only really surfaces when Terra is involved. Beast Boy was really close to Terra - he knew her better than all of the other Titans - and was in love with her. He would try and do anything to get her back. Beast Boy is also easily affected by hypnotism, brainwashing and other mind attacks.
Preferred drop-in point: It’s honestly up to you! Manhattan seems like the best place for him to go, but I already have Tommy there, so if you want to spread him somewhere else, I’m cool for that.
What are some of your plans for this character in their new environment? Confusing all the Robin’s that are already in the game is one of the things I’m looking forward to most (because seriously DC what is up with that stop that). BB would also be very willing to help out other superheroes and will step up to the mark when needed. Pranking his room-mates is also another thing that might well occur. He will also be the result of lots of animosity from the inhabitants of whichever city he gets put in, because well. He is green. And is sort of obviously an outsider. That combined with the fact he’ll be helping out the superheroes trying not to geek out over batman and since his chip will probably come out with his shapeshifting abilities will make him a prime target for the capekillers.
