I don't disagree with you entirely - one certainly shouldn't mix whiskey with steak juice. However, that doesn't mean that the cheap beer is manlier, just more sensible. I think my mom actually rendered the discussion moot though. She said "Mix it with a Boilermaker." That is the manliest drink ever.

I have neither a booze icon nor a macho icon. Clearly I need to update my icons. For now I'll just put Ollie.
