Sexy Flexy

I'm still fascinated by pole dancing. It's so beautiful, and so impressive. When I'm listening to music, if a danceable or sexy song comes on, or sometimes even something like Kissing You or At Last, I usually make up a pole routine in my head for it. I mean moves, costumes, sometimes partner routines... So today while talking to a friend about it ( Read more... )

I'm trying to figure out how to say this so it doesn't come out all wrong....

Screw it, I'll say it wrong:

You are definately hot enough to be a stripper....

(God, it feels so wrong saying that to a friend of mine.... But I hope you get the gist of it....)

I'll also add that you are hot enough to be a stripper at one of the better joints - not one of those cheapo places.

....

That really doesn't help it sound any better, does it?

I'm gonna go slink off under my desk and hide for a while....

Well, I think that reply was inevitable from at least one of you boys, so don't worry about it. :D It is an irrefutable fact of life that I am more attractive to the Rochester geeks than I am to the rest of humanity, so y'all aren't the best judges. ::shrug:: But I don't want to be a stripper anyways, so it's moot.

While I am glad that you don't want to be a stripper, for the record, it is considered highly rude to blow off a sincere (even if purposefully humorously written) compliment.

You have done this before, and I'm fairly certain not just to me.

See, these throngs of geeks that are apparently following you around, finding you attractive - there's a reason for it - because you are a pretty girl. The reason you are hearing it from geeks is because - here's the blockbuster - you. are. a. geek. too. Your own kind will be the ones you communicate with, sweetie. To disregard them smacks of the "I don't want to be part of any club that would have me for a member" mentality. So you just inadvertently insulted all the geeks you purport to be friends with, because their opinions matter less to you than - what, total strangers? big dumb jocks? Some other stereotype ( ... )

Yeah, we've done this before. :D And no, you're not the only one. And again, I don't have low self-esteem! For true! But I'll concede that my attempts to deflect compliments can be rude at times, and I apologize for any insult I caused.

I certainly don't mean to insult all the geeks! That's not what I meant at all. It's not that their opinions matter less, it's more like nobody's opinion really matters except my own. Here, I'll give the shortshort version of my history to attempt to explain my viewpoint ( ... )

Here's a thought: When you were outside Rochester, did you ever put yourself in a situation where you might (intentionally or unintentionally) attract some attention to yourself? How much dancing in your underwear did you do in another zip code ( ... )

I haven't been in Rocky in years dude. And actually I never got hit on a lot at Rocky. I just called that section "the Rocky years" as a timeline reference. Vertex, coffee shops, stores, work, on the street, whatever - I get more attention in Rochester than elsewhere. And it has nothing to do with age or whatever, because when I came back to Rochester I promptly started getting hit on more, it's all location. It's not that I never get hit on when I'm somewhere else, it's just a dramatically higher volume here, regardless of what I'm wearing or any other factors. Why are you arguing with me about this? Upstate NY has different standards of attractiveness than DC, Europe, or a cruise ship. This should not be surprising to anyone. And if you think that there are fewer conversation starters available when in another country - what? Being white, being female, and speaking English are all conversation starters!

And for the record, if you don't think you're attractive, then you have low self-esteem, at least in this regard. If hideous 400 ( ... )
