I hate traveling in August

Man, summer in southern Europe sucks, in a 35 degree kinda way. Well anyways, still alive. Met some people at a hostel and followed them, we parted ways but I keep seeing one of the guys around the city, we were just on the same tram. Crazy!

Hammered copper things are very pretty, but very expensive, when the hell did the US become the cheapest place. I like hearing the call to prayer, but Im confused by the food. They have bakeries and coffee shops, but never the twain shall meet. For breakfast you can have heavy meat/cheese/spinach/potato pastry, or super sugary cake. And their cheesecake is yogurt. But they have real lemonade, shocking. I'm down with the coffee though, it's not as strong as I was expecting *just grainy( but they could tone down the sugar a little. 2 sugar cubes for a cup of coffee the size of espresso, dear lord. The guy I rented a room from in Dubrovnik, who was more like a host dad, gave me some homemade booze and I'm lugging it around trying to get people to drink it with me because I'm pretty sure the airline won't let me carry on a preopened water bottle with odd smelling brown thick liquid that I can't pronounce. I mean, considering they took away my shampoo. Its crazy stuff, its wine and coffee and lemon and sugar and walnut and probably some other stuff.

The most interesting thing that's happened so far = I was walking down a random street and passed a bunch of police guards with machine guns, handguns, and bulletproof vests. I'm like greeeeeat, I accidently stumbled onto some high-security military compound, nothing to see here guys, just a dumb innnocent tourist...and one of the guys starts hitting on me. Turns out it was the US embassy, man we're paranoid. Anyways I wasn't interested in this guy at all, but YOU try turning down a guy with a machine gun. So I let him buy me coffee, but wouldn't let him take me for a ride on his motorcycle, or in his truck, or buy me a bus ticket back down here from Prague so that I could move to his city and date him...yeah, he was trying to convince me to do that. The boys do come on strong around here...he wanted me to publish a book for him too. Weird.

Tomorrow Ill attempt to get to Durmitor, info on how to get there is fuzzy at best so who knows where I'll actually end up, wish me luck.

food, europe
