boots lurve
Oh god these new boots are fabulous, even more than I thought they would be. The Treads Have Tread. There are scores on the tread for extra grip, oh the love. There's also tread on the Sides for being in a prone position. There's rubber on the toe so i can kick things without scuffing the hell out of them like i did my tankers. There's enough leather to be supportive and protective, but the rest is fabric so they're surprisingly lightweight (the tread, in addition to being awesome, is also lightweight). I haven't taken them outside, but jumping around my room indicates that the "shock mitigation system" does in fact work. The hidden pocket is, contrary to my expectations, on the outside, which is both good and bad. I don't think much water can get in though, and it's very well hidden. There are well designed laces for a proper fit, and a waterproof zipper for quick removal at airports, stores, and temples. Speaking of airports, it's also all non-metal construction to minimize metal-detector fuss. And, shock shock, they're actually comfortable (as comfortable as military boots can possibly be before being worn in) and not superwarm like the converses were. Love, such love. The only problem is they're too small ::facedesk::. Damn you inconsistent shoe sizing! So I have to slog around in the rain in my ooooooold tankers for awhile longer while I return these. damn. and i do wish they were a wee bit higher for that extra puddle protection, but they're high enough for everything but the deepest puddle on the worst 3rd-world road in a horrid downpour. ah well, if these perform in the field anywhere near as well as i think they will, i'm a very happy muffin.

oh, and i also got my superwarmsquishy robe today. it's brown and hooded and fuzzy, so i can be a monk, a jedi, or hagrid. given my current green arrow obsession, i think i'm gonna go with connor's monk robe ;)
