Personality: Above anything else, Kinzou Shima is the kind of guy who's ruled by his heart, not his head. His emotions are shown strongly and openly, and his temper is short, leading to a hot-headed sort of personality. People meeting him for the first time would find him volatile, excitable, enthusiatic, and somewhat dumb. It isn't that he's really stupid, though -- Kinzou's simply something of a ditz, in that he reacts to things before thinking, which leads to doing and saying things that give everyone else an "idiot" impression. In fact, his older brother refers to him as "the fucking idiot" of the family, and he doesn't seem to mind in particular. He gives his favorite saying as "PACE", which he mistook for being "PEACE" (no one has corrected him yet), and is usually a pretty playful kind of guy.

Kinzou is the fourth of five brothers in the Shima family. Though his oldest brother is dead and the third brother hasn't been mentioned, Kinzou is on good terms with the rest of his family and places great importance on his loyalty to them. He flies into a rage at insult to them, especially anyone speaking badly about his father, and is mostly seen trailing behind the second son, Juuzou, with whom he's quite close. He greets his younger brother Renzou with a flying kick to the head at one point, but it's all in good fun and he quickly settles down to breakfast (which he eats with such exuberance that he completely ignores the conversation around him in favor of his food). He also respects people according to rank and tradition, deferring to a boy five years his junior and below him in the Order because of his rank as the Most High Priest's son, and getting angry when someone else fails to do the same.

Though at first glance he seems simple and shallow, Kinzou is actually dedicated to more than one pursuit. He is an exorcist of the True Cross Order and a priest of the Myouou Dharani sect, with the rank of Middle Second Class in the former. At twenty years old, this is a decent if not particularly impressive rank to have achieved, showing that he must be rather strong in his exorcism abilities. He can fight using a K'rik (a priest's staff) and knows Buddhist mantras, and though he is nervous facing a threat alone when it gets serious, with the backup of friends and family (or as backup to Juuzou), he's confident in conflict situations.

Outside of his "day job", though, Kinzou is very interested in and talented with music. He likes music of all kinds, and as well as playing the tsugaru shamisen, he spends his off-time as the vocalist in a band. He isn't anyone particularly famous, but the band does well enough to produce original content (which Juuzou listens to as his "favorite music"), and Kinzou spends as much of his time off as possible practicing with them. He's usually see dressed in his priests' robes, but juding by his hair (bleached blond, messy and accessorized with a multitude of coloured bobby pins), his natural style is light-hearted and casual. In fact, his overall personality gives off a definite bright and sunny vibe despite his temper. Kinzou does things when and how he wants to do them, and he doesn't hold back, if only because he doesn't stop and think long enough to. He's easily distracted and easily emotionally prodded at, but he's honest and earnest and if he considers someone a friend, he's fiercely loyal. All together, he's a good guy to have at your back.

✖ SAMPLES:
"Zodion" First-Person Network Entry: [Excuse him if he's irritable. The letter and the "phone" didn't much help him understand what was happening, and he's all full of confused anger. He's frowning when he turns on the video, and his priests' robes are all out of sorts.]

I've been walking around for a few hours already, and I still don't get it! I thought I was seeing things, but I don't think I could come up with this much. I don't think a fever dream is like this either. I don't know if hallucinations are even part of the miasma thing, so... sure, fine! I'll believe it's real, but only if someone makes it make sense!

The "Twelve" people have some bad timing, too. I can't be here right now! There's too much going on. I can't sit around while Pops and Juu-nii and everyone fight, can I? Even Bon and Renzou are doing their best! Bon must be, anyway. Why now, of all times? And why me? It's just-- just stupid!

"Zodionlogs" Third-Person Prose Entry: When he first felt that disorienting sensation of blinking in one place and opening his eyes in another, Kinzou thought it must be some strange power of the Impure King. Could is create illusions now? Was it so powerful its miasma made him so sick he was hallucinating before he even noticed it was affecting him? He hadn't heard of that effect, but there was always a chance, right? The possibilities whirred through his mind, but they were also pushed to the back of it. His brain could try to figure it out, but something else was vitally more important than "why" at the moment: being pissed off.

"What the hell is this?!"

He scowled, taking a defensive posture as he scanned the area for demons, other exorcists, or anything particularly of use. This was a critical moment -- he had to keep his guard up, even if he wanted to just hit something. Not that there seemed to be anything worth hitting, anyway. There was just this strange environment, and the altar not too far away. A Western sort of thing, that was -- not like he'd see in the temples he was used to, and he had to give whoever was causing this hallucination credit for creativity, at least. He wondered briefly if he'd run into something in reality if he moved in the illusion, so his first few steps were cautious, but after nothing smacked him in his face, he moved more purposefully as he checked out everything of interest besides that oh-so-distracting altar.

"Juu-nii? Pops?" Kinzou wasn't terribly surprised not to get an answer when he called for them, but he did it anyway, with increasing volume. Maye if he was loud enough, someone would hear him. His stomach was getting queasy with nervousness. If he was hallucinating this badly, what was happening to his body? Did the sickness have hold of him? Was he dying? Dead? What of his family? It was both terrifying and infuriating, and he felt his heart beating harder as he finally stormed his way up to the altar. Maybe there was something useful there.

He was all geared up to kick the altar out of spite. In fact, he'd already lifted his foot to do so when the sudden sting at his hip and the rush of water around him kicked in. He didn't notice the water at first, being entirely too distracted by tugging his modified True Cross uniform/modernized priests robes into disarray in order to make sure his skin wasn't bubbling up or melting off. He was picturing his father's face -- the demon-inflicted boils and the painful cough he was perfectly aware had killed many in the past. He was expecting the same on himself, too. He felt fear rising in his throat at the thought of it, the dread of dying of that horrible illness overriding any desire to assault stone altars. No no no. He had way too much left to do in his life to die of demonic toxins while seeing things so badly that he couldn't see his family even if they called out to him.

And it was that last bit that was scariest. If he was dying, were they? Had he already failed in helping to defend his parents and brothers? Even if they were okay, he couldn't be the only one suffering this way. They'd be upset -- and he couldn't interact with them at all. He couldn't say goodbye, and he couldn't save them tears. That's what bothered him the most -- if this was all in his head, then surely his family was reaching for him, somewhere he couldn't get to.

He was only more surprised to find a large tattoo instead of a disease, considering those thoughts. That was not a typical symptom, as far as he knew. He looked up, just to see if something weird was there -- and yes, a water mirror was definitely weird, especially one that showed him as nude when he was pretty sure he had hands full of clothing right at the moment. Either his imagination was strange, or the Impure King was a Pervert King, too. He wasn't sure whether to be angry or horrified, or if he should just laugh at that point. It was all too weird, and didn't make any sense given what little he knew about what they were facing.

But the water faded quickly enough, and Kinzou let his clothes remain messed up -- as long as they stayed on, that was good enough. He turned then, and reached for the box on the altar. Maybe it would help him make sense of this whole horrible fever dream. Then, maybe he could wake up.
