Aug 18, 2009 11:28

It was hot, and Glinda had gotten a sunburn from last week's tanning. So this week the office stayed as it was built, and the Margarator had made a triumphant return.

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

On the door, there was a handwritten sign:
Teachers: step in for a free gift.

[Oooooopen]

Well, Robin wasn't a teacher, but he knocked anyway. There was something he wanted to ask her.

Glinda quickly moved the Margarator from her desk and onto a side table that was partially out of sight, and then called, "Come in!"

"Hi Miss Glinda." Robin said as he came in. "How are you?"

"I'm fine," she replied, "looking forward to the break before fall classes start. How about you?"

"I am too. I might go visit my uncle in Los Angeles for a bit."

"Why, that sounds like it will be fun," she replied. "A nice change of pace from school and the island, anyways."

"Uh huh. But actually, I wanted to ask you about something about next term."

"Oh? What's that?" Glinda smiled encouragingly at the frog.

"Well I'm hoping to start a band, and I was hoping you'd be our faculty adviser."

"Why Robin, I'd be honored to," she said. "It sounds like it will be so much fun! Honestly, I was quite surprised that there wasn't one here yet, but this will be a change for the better!"

"You're more than welcome. Would you mind being a student ambassador of sorts and letting your classmates know? -Those who will be here in the fall, I mean," she corrected herself. "I'll see about getting a sign-up sheet of some sort on one of the tables at the welcome picnic, so the new students can see it and so I can ascertain what we have for interest."

"Sure! I know there's a club fair every semester too, so that'll help."

"Oh how very nice!" Glinda said. "We'll have to get organized for that as well. But all in due time! We'll worry about that when it's a touch closer, and when everyone isn't in the middle of worrying about finals."

"Will you be teaching still this fall?"

"I plan to, unless something arises," she replied. "How to win friends and influence people!"

Yes, she's working from a book that was published 70 years ago, but hey, the rules still worked.
