I needed to get a B or higher in the introduction to creative writing class before I could take the fiction workshop. I got a C in the intro class, and even though I signed up for the fiction class, it’s being taken off my schedule. This means a few things:
- I emailed my prof about my grade, and pretty much all he said was “well, tough.” (not exactly those words but yeah). I’m not sure if he’s even aware that I was planning to major in creative writing, and even if he did know it seems like he wouldn’t care. Is there a nice way to email him something like “you mean I can’t major in writing?”
- I could try and talk to the fiction professor to try and get me in the class, but he seems kind of unapproachable from what I hear. Anyone have any tips on how to go about this? Or should I even bother?
- I could just change my major altogether. Some people don’t even use the major they got in college. For example, I could major in art history and still end up writing novels. The problem with this is that I have soo many interests so I don’t know what my back-up major is. Maybe I could cut up a list of majors, throw them in a bag, and randomly pick one.
- I can design my own major, but again, I have no idea what I’d want to do.
And now the question is, if I can’t get in the fiction class, what should I take? Algebra? Should I retake the intro class? Any advice would be much appreciated.
