Yes, Dalek boys and girls (to quote the lovely manslut Captain Jack), David Tennant has announced that he will not be returning to his role as the Doctor after the 2009 specials. Link's
here. =(
It's a bit of a shock, considering David was one of my favourite Doctors (along with Tom Baker and Peter Davison), but it is understandable. He's done the role justice, no matter what people say, and I've enjoyed watching him (and perving on him...damn sexy Scottish man in a suit being so damn hot, haha). I admit, I'd seen the older series before as a kid and I liked it, but it slipped my mind for a few years, until the 2005 series, which I watched one or two episodes of, but it wasn't until early last year I really got into it. I probably blame David for that. But also interesting storylines. And Daleks, that my mother is still afraid of. And this year (for us Kiwis, anyway), Catherine Tate was brilliant as Donna. I did expect her to go 'Am I bovvered, Doctor?' in the beginning, but now I reckon she was one of the best companions. (I am NOT a Rose/Doctor shipper.) So therefore, David was (sort of) my first Doctor. And you never forget your first Doctor.
It'll be really interesting to see who will step up as the Eleventh Doctor, but so far, I can't really decide who my personal choice would be. Maybe later, I shall have some ideas of whom. I must discuss it with my friends who also like Doctor Who. Big discussion! Along with marathons and heaps of candy and funny jokes about whipped creams, handcuffs, a whip and the Fourth Doctor. =D Who came up with that?! I'd rather have the Fifth or Tenth Doctors, ta.
But, in seriousness, I will think about who could be a suitable replacement for him and get others opinions. Maybe.
So, David, thanks for giving us what will be 5 years of laughter, tragedy, making geeks look cool again and just being one of the best Doctors. You've been...BRILLIANT! =D
