".. If you can't take responsibility for it, you'll always be its victim."
Running yesterday was hard.
Harder than I feel it should have been. So I've decided I'm doing week 4 over again. Or rather, I really sort of decided that after last week was such a phenomenal flop, but what should have been the last week 4 workout yesterday was much too difficult for me to feel comfortable going on to Things Harder(tm). Of course, part of it could have been residual exhaustion from the weekend, but I don't really think so.
Today at work is almost all about not doing my job. Or rather, it's about doing the parts of my job that are related to being in a workplace community as opposed to crunching numbers and creating reports. It's an oddly social day, but not entirely unpleasant.
caoilfhionn..? Other than just going and buying CDs by the artists on Madness, what suggestions would you have for finding more good, neat, fun music? (Others can feel free to chime in on this one as well.)
It's more or less official that the Wandering Jew is dead. Will have to get a cutting from John and try again. Or find a heartier plant that is less likely to die from being neglected for a week.
I like reading Sharon Kay Penman books (thanks,
dread_ex!).
I like learning about English history in a way I'm much more likely to remember. I can't wait for the third Henry-n-Eleanor book to come out.. it's a bit odd to be missing that one as I started Here Be Dragons, which picks up pretty much right after the third one will likely end, with Llewyllan and (eventually) John. Does she have any that are before When Christ and His Saints Slept..? I'd love to get a better grasp of the Battle of Hastings (it is the Battle of Hastings, right? The one in 1066? *blush*). I'm a bad, bad SCAdian. *blush* And I just happen to have a $25 gift card for Barnes and Noble, so books are essentially free (up to $25) for the moment.
I started to fidget last night because
I'm not in the midst of a project anymore. Or rather, I am (the Padded Footlets from the Summer Interweave Knits), but it's my car project because it's small and easily portable. It also is taking rather longer than typical socks due to the doubled-sole, but now that I have the pattern down, it's fairly mindless. And I haven't gotten the color card for the yarn I think I want to do Rogue with, so I haven't ordered that yarn yet. I did start the crochet border on Soleil at WW, but haven't been terribly motivated to finish it. I also need to do the lace bit for the neckline and arm holes on Dawn's Shapely Tee, and I do have the yarn to start her a second one in a rosey-pink in moss stitch, but that just doesn't seem to be grabbing me lately. Mayhap I'll start more lace. Or tablet weaving, but I *really* need to overhaul my loom first so it'll keep tension. I could start another pair of socks with the other yarn from my Secret Pal, but I still haven't found a pattern that I like to do them in that will do the colors justice. I think I'm just stuck in project limbo at the moment. It will pass, I know, but it's sort of .. odd.
But I did order the beer kits for the B&V demo day I'm doing August 13. (By the by, if anyone who hasn't already gotten the info on that day thinks they might be interested, ping me and I'll send you the info.)
I got a Raspberry Red Ale and a Honey Porter. I expect I'll do the Raspberry Red Ale the weekend of the housewarming so it's ready to bottle by the 13th and will therefore be ready to drink by MKAOD as it strikes me as a more summery brew than the Porter, which may need longer in the bottle to come into itself. The Porter will then be the kit that gets made on the 13th. Still need to figure out which wine I want to do that day, though. Maybe if I have enough raspberries from the garden by then, I'll do that.
Oh, and yeah, housewarming will be the 30th (so as not to conflict with
samiratou's, which we still, unfortunately, will not be able to make). I'll post additional details separately as this post is already quite long.
