[The video starts with Eliot outside in one of the more heavily forested areas of the city, shirtless and training with a few self-made heavy bags that are hanging from the sturdier limbs. During this, if you knew Arabic you'd understand thathe was muttering different things in reference to people that weren't there. Things about how the 'camp' ( Read more... )

One cannot "break out" of a bricked up cell, Eliot. Would that I could. They have even put a wooden board over the little window at the top of my cell, as a punishment for not praying hard enough to stop my fantastical dreams. There is no light, even in the daytime now, and it has been two days since the reverend mother put anything save half a cup of water through the tiny door at my feet.

[She shakes her head and looks ready to cry.]

I kicked it over this morning before I could find it in the dark.

Not everyone is put into situations that they can get out of. You're a good kid, Juliet. You shouldn't expect something like that to happen to you, even if this was all a product of madness.

[Now for an attempt to comfort...]

I've got tea and white truffle risotto served with ossobuco. I can bring some over.

[She is silent for a moment regarding that.]

It is what would happen to a woman in my time, Eliot. If she were truly mad, as the reverend mother tells me I am, and unable to be helped by bedrest or prayer at home, she would be sent away to be cloistered, so that her family could explain her disappearance and not be thought less of for having a madwoman about. I have "discovered my true calling," they will say. And my family will go on as they have done. Father will choose a new heir from among the cousins, and in private, everyone will mourn for my loss, but to think that anything would happen differently - that would be madness.

[She manages a smile at the promise of food from home.]

How ever did you find the ingredients for such a feast?

That's when you tell them you're not mad at all, though perhaps a bit miffed at being stuck in the cell. What happens to you isn't completely up to your family. Would your husband allow it?

[Smirks a little, nodding to the side.]

They're not all traditional ingredients, but you find things with the right enough texture and flavor after a while. While not saffron, I did manage to find rice and there are white truffles around when you know the area to look.

[Deep breath. She will not cry.]

The reverend mother tells me my husband is dead. He killed himself from grief, on the very day the gravestone here said that he would die.

[If this did turn out to be an event, she was going to ask him to teach her how to find things that would do for cooking more traditional fare.]

I - if you do not mind sharing, truly, then I would like some. I can fetch a peaduck, if you like, as a trade.

The only way he'd do that is if he believed you were dead. Even then, it'd probably be to stay at your side. Madness or not, would he really leave you alone?

[The gravestone... Well, that's another story. As he said, only if Romeo believed Juliet was dead.]

Sharing a dish is a gift. I'd only ask for a trade if you wanted something else, like learning how to cook, or to hunt and forage.

[She shakes her head.]

He had been sent into exile. He would not have been allowed back into Verona, even to claim his wife.

[And for his kindness, she manages a tentative smile.]

Then I shall - I shall save the bird for when I do wish to learn such skills. You are most kind, Eliot.
