♠ In-Depth

Personality:
Jane is a smart, considerate young girl. One who often tries to act much older (as well as much braver) than she actually is. Jane had to grow up rather quickly due to her father being drafted for war. In his absence, Jane took it upon herself to care for her mother and younger brother. She can’t bring herself to enjoy her childhood like most children do because of all the responsibility she has put upon herself.

Back in London, Jane truly felt confident that she could take care of her loved ones. Though it was a dangerous place for a child, Jane at least knew her way around. She was braver there, as well as more together. Since leaving home however, her confidence in herself has dropped severely. Alone in a new place, she found herself feeling quite intimidated. She's much shyer now than she was at home, and more easily frightened. She feels a lot of shame in herself because of it, and wishes she could summon the courage to be the strong leader she thought she was back home.

Deep down Jane is very much a homesick little girl. She misses her family terribly, but doesn’t dare confide it to anyone. Adults don’t get homesick and cry, after all. She also believes that playing and listening to fairy tales are childish wastes of time. She prefers to put her efforts into things she considers important, like studying and planning. But even though she tries her hardest to act mature, she can still get easily frustrated and throw tantrums every now and then. And truthfully, she actually would like to act a tiny bit more like a child. She believes it would maker look weak though.

AU Background:
Jane was never kidnapped by Captain Hook, so she has yet to go to Neverland. Because of this, she strongly believes Peter Pan to be nothing more than a fairytale she stopped believing in years ago.

Her home of London is currently undergoing a war. One that has been raging since she was a very young child. It was so severe that many men were drafted, including her father. The danger of bombs constantly dropping from the sky also forced families to evacuate their the children to the countryside where they would be safer. Jane's mother Wendy chose to send her daughter off to the Disney Academy instead.

At first Jane was very much against it. When her father left home years ago, she had promised him that she would be the one to protect the family while he was off fighting, and she couldn't very well do so away at some strange school. But then she thought about the strange mist engulfing the land, even beyond London, and how the people at the academy were trying to learn how to battle against it. She decided then that if her father was being a brave soldier, then so would she.

At the academy Jane was a diligent student, preoccupying most of her time by engrossing herself in her studies. Her life for the most part there was peaceful until her younger brother Danny was sent to the school as well. She quickly took it upon herself to watch over him, though being the constant babysitter of a rambunctious four-year-old took a large toll on the young girl.

Jane also made some friends at the school, her closest being a kindly old teddy bear named Lotso. The bear quickly became Jane’s greatest comfort while being away from her family. He was always there to offer her words of comfort or a hug whenever she felt upset. Jane was completely unaware, however, that her fluffy pink friend had a very twisted past. One Mr. Lotso did everything in his power to prevent her from discovering.

Greatest Fear:
To never see her father alive again, and to not be able to prove herself a strong and capable protector of those she cares about. Jane very much wants to be the person people go to when they're frightened or in danger. She wants to be able to help them like a reliable adult should. But seeing as she's still just a child, this is a big, difficult task for her. Nothing would devastate her more than to be in a situation where someone she cares about is in need, and she is incapable of making things better because she still lacks the maturity and knowledge of a full grown adult. She would place the blame on herself, and feel ashamed for being so helpless and useless to her loved ones.

Has your character been enrolled at the school before? Do they remember it?
Yes. Most of Jane’s memories of the academy and people she’s met are intact. Non-returning students and staff members though, she has forgotten. She has no recollection of her younger brother joining her at the academy. For all she knows he is back in London, safe in the countryside.

She has no memory of her friend Mr. Lotso either. However, Jane seems to be vaguely aware that she has lost someone dear to her. She often finds herself feeling incredibly heartbroken, breaking down into tears for what appears to be no reason at all. She also sometimes dreams at night that she is hugging something cuddly in her arms, only to wake up and find nothing.
