I started listening to Superchunk today for the first time. It takes some of us a longer time to get to music the everyone else liked when they were 14.
I applied for a new job in the Theater Dept at EKU. It’s the same basic stuff that I do at my current job - only I’ll be hired full time with benefits (paid sick time, vacation, holiday!) and EKU now pays for 12 HOURS A SEMESTER FOR FULL TIME EMPLOYEES. I’d be working in the Campbell bldg - about a ten minute walk from my apartment (and about a two minute walk from the bldg my sister works in). In a short time, I very well may be a full time student with a full time job at a university that treats their employees like human beings. The new president at EKU will throw little perks here and there - like giving the employees an extra day off before a long holiday break or summer flex time (employees get one day off a week and just make the time up on the other four days - working till 6:15 instead of 4:30 -- totally worth it, I think). Erin told me today that there were over 20 applicants for the job which isn't supposed to be reassuring, but there were 90 applicants when she applied for the job she got. Erin's much better at everything than me, but i'm not so bad.
I’ve had it up to my neck with my current job and it’s been that way for years. I don’t think that people should necessarily be tickled to death go to work from 7:30 - 4:30, but I don’t think anyone should hate their job as much as I hate mine. I talk to retards all day, I pick up people’s slack, get gossiped about, and i just genuinely don't care about what i'm doing.
