Birthstone Series He woke to feel her breasts pressed against his back and her arm along his hip. There was nothing better than waking up to feel her pressed against him. Rolling onto his back, she moved with him so she was still pressed to his side, her arm shifting to his shoulder.
Picking up the blond strands, he let them fall though his fingers. He sometimes wondered how he was lucky enough to have her. They'd had a close call at the jewelry store the day before, he really should have learned to stay out of jewelry stores. They had bad karma for him and now it seemed for Calleigh as well.
When he saw her laying on the ground, blood diamonds and opals surrounding her, glittering in her blood, he was terrified he'd lose her.
The paramedics bandaged her wound after Alex and Horatio had been assured she was okay. Thankfully her close call hadn't been nearly as close as his had been. She had a grazing bullet wound along her side and multiple abrasions on her arms and face from her fall and the broken glass.
He ran his fingers lightly over the bandage over the worst of the cuts on her arm and down her side until he skirted the larger bandage on her side. So lucky. She had been so lucky.
He saw the fragility of life everyday but never had it been so close to home as when he saw Calleigh bleeding.
If he thought about it, she was like the opals she knocked over. Beautiful and fragile but with an inner fire you had to look closely to see. He'd seen it the first day Jesse Cardoza brought him to the lab and introduced him to everyone. To her.
"Hey..."
Looking down into her green eyes, he echoed, "Hey."
"Quit thinking."
"Even if it's about you?" he asked as he played with her hair.
"Well... Only if you aren't obsessing over what happened."
He watched as she shifted around until she was straddling him.
"How about I give you something else to think about?"
Speed groaned as he felt her warm wetness against his morning erection. She was definitely like those opals and he couldn't think about a more wonderful way to wake up.

Part of the
Birthstone Series Calleigh looked at the calendar and sighed. Tim's birthday was coming up and she had no idea of what to get him. And judging by the questions she was getting from their friends, she wasn't alone.
He was a man of few needs and desires and some of those needs weren't something she could just give him. He wasn't into jewelry. He wasn't a clothes horse and even though he owned a few colorful shirts she also knew he preferred blacks and blues with the odd brown thrown in for good measure.
"Here you go Miss Duquesne."
Calleigh looked up at the kid dropping off the mail and took the envelopes from him. The 5x7 plain brown envelop caught her eye so she opened it first. Pulling the contents out part way, she noticed the Logo for Arties Adult Playground and smiled. Making sure she was alone she finished pulling the contents out. It was a flier for a brand new line of merchandise; the birthstone collection of dildos and vibrators. She knew Tim's birthstone was aquamarine so when she aquamarine colored dildo she knew exactly what she was getting him for his birthday. Tucking the flier back into the envelop and then into her handbag, she made plans for getting out of the lab early so she could make a pit stop on the way home and make her purchase.

Cause and Effect They hadn't been together as a threesome long with the annual Policeman's fund Banquet and Fundraiser came around again. Since Speed and Calleigh were only out to their friends, they did what they always did and came separately meeting at the party. This year however, Horatio decided to come with Speed.
The two men were at the bar getting a drink when Calleigh arrived.
"Wow."
Tim turned around with a smile, knowing Eric's attention was on Calleigh.
"Wow is right," Horatio echoed.
Speed felt like he had five years ago when Calleigh walked into this same party wearing a black dress and pearls. This year it was an amethyst colored dress with the amethyst and black onyx necklace her grandmother had given her. If he'd thought she couldn't be more beautiful than she had been five years ago, he was very wrong.
Horatio leaned over and whispered in Speeds ear, "Do you ever want to yell Hands off, she's mine?" as they watched her walk toward them.
Speed laughed and replied, "All the time."
"Gentleman," Calleigh greeted when she approached them.
"Calleigh," Horatio said, as he leaned over to give her a kiss on the cheek in an uncharacteristic public display of affection.
"Cal," Tim echoed leaning over to give her a kiss as well before pulling her closer to him.
"Geesh, you two are pathetic even after all these years, get a room," Eric groused, teasing them.
Calleigh leaned between Tim and Horatio and whispered, "I have a room," looking up so made sure to make eye contact with Horatio, "For the three of us."
Tim smiled. He had a feeling that the amethyst dress was going to go down with her black dress as something worn on a momentous night.
