"Did you have a long day today or was it just me?"
"I don't know but the phones rang non-stop."
"Guess it's all good for business," Dean rolled his head from side to side until his neck cracked. "I'm so glad it's Friday."
"Same here."
"Do you want to come over tonight?"
"You're asking me if I want to cook supper for you, aren't you?" Jo smirked.
"You know my kitchen abilities suck. So, yeah, if you want to make something, that's great. Otherwise I'll order in. I'm not totally helpless, you know."
"Make it a Mama Mia's pizza and I'll be there with bells on."
"Mama Mia's it is. Do you want t meet at my place or ride along with me?"
"I'll take my own car."
"Alright," he opened the door for Jo. They shared a chaste kiss before she climbed in.

Dean clicked on the lights and looked around their mess of a living room. Knowing that Jo had seen it in worse condition, he just picked up the big pieces.
"Knock, knock!" Jo called as she stepped inside. "It's just me. I grabbed drinks."
"I've already ordered pizza. There's pop in the fridge."
"I brought over something a little stronger." Jo pulled a bottle out of a brown bag. "What's a Friday without a party?"
"No arguments here. Make yourself at home. I'll get some glasses and ice."
Dean reclined on the couch with an arm around Jo. The cubes in their drinks clinked as they soaked in the silence.
"Maybe getting loaded before the pizza gets here isn't such a great idea." Jo found a coaster to put to use.
"It should be here soon enough." Dean took another sip. "Besides, you don't have to worry about driving. You can stay here."
Jo stared at her hands. "I know I can."
"Hey," Dean tilted her chin so he could see her face. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," she lied. She knew what a horrible liar she was but didn't feel like she had another choice.
"Is it that you don't want to stay here?"
She shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe I'll just see how I'm feeling later. I could always take a cab if I needed to."
The doorbell interrupted their conversation just as Dean was going to try to press any further. It gave her some time to pull herself together and pretend all was fine.

"Something sure smells good," Sam commented as he entered his home with Celeste. Seeing Dean and Jo on the couch, he asked, "Did you leave any for us?"
"No," Dean deadpanned. "You're constantly hungry but I refuse to feed you. Of course we saved you some."
Sam disappeared to the kitchen. That left his guest standing awkwardly by the front door.
"Hey, Celeste. Come on over and find yourself a seat," Dean welcomed her. "You remember Jo."
She nodded.
"Be careful grabbing for a slice. Sam tends to turn into a hoover when he's hungry. I'd hate for him to mistake your hand for food." Jo's kidding made Celeste more at ease.
"You telling her lies about me?" Sam strode in with a couple cokes.
"Just the truth, Sammy. We had to give her fair warning."
"It's Sam, and she's eaten with me before."
Dean chuckled, "But she hasn't seen you in your natural habitat. It was only fair to tell her."
"Whatever," Sam rolled his eyes.
Within minutes, the four of them had settled into comfortable conversation. It was interesting to see how Sam and Dean interacted. Celeste laughed for the first time and it felt so good.

Sam walked her up to her door later that evening. "We didn't do anything special, but I hope you had fun."
"I did." She smiled until the look in his eyes set off her warning signals. She quickly gave him a brief hug and opened her door.
"Celeste?"
She could sense the confusion from the tone of his voice. She closed her eyes to calm her insides before she turned to face him. "Hmm?"
"Did I do something?"
"No. Just tired."
He placed his hand on the side of her face and her eyes darted to look anywhere but at him. He softly brushed his lips against hers.
"Goodnight," he whispered.
"Night, Sam. I enjoyed tonight. It was easy and laid back."
"Weekends at my house are usually that way. Does that mean you might want to join our weekend crew? Jo's usually over. She putters around her own apartment but loves to dote on a house. If it wasn't for her, we'd have bare walls and furniture made of wooden crates."
"I'd like to see a chair your size out of crates."
"It's not as great as it sounds. Lots of splinters. Lots of splinters."
"So, I'll see you . . ." She let the question hang in the air.
"Tomorrow afternoon? We sleep in but might have a barbeque later on."
"That sounds nice."
"I'll call you with the details." Sam looked at her in the moonlight. "I'd better just go or I'll never leave."
"I'll see you later, Sam."
She closed my door and sank against it. Celeste felt lucky that Sam wasn't pushing her to be more intimate. Part of her wanted him and the other part was terrified that she did.
