Summary:  Andy surprises Ash at the Roadhouse.

He walked in the door to the Roadhouse and was enclosed in loud banter and the jukebox singing for all it was worth. Ellen was going to have to get a new one. Almost anything would be better than the old model they had with its numerous glitches. The songs could do with some updating, too. He was all for old time rock and roll but would really love something that had been in the Top 40 in the last 10 years.

"Hey, Andy!" Jo spared him a smile as she sashayed between the patrons to deliver the alcohol.

Andy lifted his hand in silent greeting and scanned the room for the person he'd come to visit.

"What'll it be?" Ellen leaned across the bar as she wiped up a spill.

"Whatever's on tap." Andy glanced around again as Ellen retrieved his drink.

"Haven't seen you around in some time. You been staying out of trouble?"

"Now, Ellen, that wouldn't be any fun! Besides, how else would I get all the stories to tell you when I stopped by?"

"These guys keep my on my toes. I don't need any of your tales of adventure to add to my grey hairs." Andy took a sip of his drink. "Ash's in his room. Has been for most of the day. You know where it is."

He nodded and asked, "Did he have a late night?"

"When doesn't he? Still can't play pool worth a damn, though. No matter how hard he tries, he loses money at the table every week. Might want to either teach him to play or be blunt and tell him that his talents lie elsewhere."

"Sounds like Ash." Andy emptied his glass and set it back on the bar. "Thanks, Ellen."

"Anytime. Stop by more often. He broods, otherwise."

Andy tried to picture the happy go lucky guy sulking around and shook his head as he failed another attempt. He stared at the door for a few moments, wondering if he should knock. There weren't any sounds coming from the room. Trying the knob and finding it unlocked, he slipped inside.

In the beam of sunshine that had somehow worked its way between the curtain and the window pane, Ash was sprawled across his bed. His snores drowned out the click as Andy closed the door behind him. With his head at a weird angle, it was tilted back almost off the bed. His mouth was wide open and he was out for the count.

Recalling the last time he saw Ash, he began to undress with no hesitation. Shirt and coat were dropped beside the chair. He watched Ash's chest move with each breath while he unbuckled his belt and worked the button to open his jeans. Ash gave a snort/choke when he inhaled a little harder and Andy worried that it would wake him up. It wasn't that Andy felt he wasn't supposed to be there. He wanted to surprise Ash and he'd almost accomplished it without screwing up. Getting caught now would wreck the whole shebang.

It was a short walk across the room before he shucked off his underwear. Ash would make fun of his tighty-whiteys later on but Andy insisted on wearing what was comfortable. It was an ongoing argument because Ash's view was that going commando was not only practical, but sexy. Andy figured he'd rather not take a chance on pinching himself someplace painful and couldn't figure out how the seams failed to bother Ash. Then again, with what Ash could sleep through, not much irritated him.

The covers were on the floor except for the sheet that was allowing Ash's navel and the area just below to peek out. After contemplating the best way to silently get into bed, Andy carefully lifted the sheet with two fingers and bent his body as he laid down. He scooted closer to Ash before settling the sheet back over the both of them.

Once he was making skin to skin contact with his unconscious lover, he relaxed. The long car drive and lack of sleep caught up with him. He fell asleep before his mind got the signal that he was tired.

About an hour later, Ash smacked his lips and turned his head to the side. The sensation of someone's head under his chin wasn't alarming. He was drifting off to a sound sleep when he remembered that he had gone to bed alone. At least he thought he had. His spirit had been flying high the night before. He'd been sure that it was going to be his lucky night at trying to hustle and was making friends with the guys, drinking with them before challenging them to a game. He should have kept better track of how much he'd had to drink or the look Ellen shot him when she knew what he was up to was a bad idea. Bad, bad idea if what his brain felt like was any indication.

That still didn't explain the person lying next to him in bed. Maybe it was a woman and Andy wouldn't be too mad. After all, he knew how wily a gal could be. Ash made the slightest movement and realized that he was with a man. Softly groaning to himself, he took in his surroundings for some clues. There was a huge belt buckle that caught his eye and he sucked in air with relief. Andy was the one beside him. Ash hadn't thought that he'd hook up and cheat on Andy, no matter how drunk he was. He was reassured that he had only made a complete fool of himself the night before, nothing else. Ellen or Jo probably shoved him into his room after last call. He must have tipped over on the mattress when he sat down to take his socks off. That was the only reason he'd be sleeping with them on, something he never did.

Ash gently moved his hand to push Andy's hair back. Andy startled and caught Ash's eye.

"Morning," Ash's gruff voice welcomed him.

"Afternoon," Andy corrected. "Tired."

Ash worked his arm so it was snug around Andy. "Sleep."

The other man complied, glad that he'd received a good welcome after being gone too long.
