[What WHAT what what?! Police force?! This woman is throwing crazy law-abiding talk around in highly suspect ways. Certainly he cannot let this escape any commentary.]

[ would it help her cause if she told him she just wants a group of people to make sure the village is safe? not really police in the form of jails, just protection. ]

Even a small village needs to know there's a group of people looking out for their safety.

[Nooooo probably not, considering he spends a fair share of time robbing and marauding in that very village.]

Agreed. You never know when a certain class of person will move in and make things unsafe for all, do you, Ms. Forbes. But--forgive me---I should call you Sheriff, no?

Exactly my point. I just think in a small town like this, there should be some sort of protection for the citizens set up. [ beat. ] Sheriff is preferred.

I was thinking more along the lines of those who bring physical harm to others. [ beat. ] Do you think there's need for more than just that?

Nope! Sounds good to me! Harm, and all!

[And perhaps she'll turn a blind eye to January's marauding session.]

Good. If you see anyone acting strangely, I'd like to hear about it.

[ maybe, maybe not! depends on what all ends up happening. at least there aren't exactly prisons here. ]
