A long overdue post, to be sure. I'll try to make it worthwhile. がんばります!
∙ Kamen Rider Den-O
Not many shows can make me cry, laugh, and RAAAAAAGE within the span of 25 minutes, but this show can. I can't comment much without subs because I'm seriously lost. I can, however, say that Airi was a lot cooler before she lost her memory (I dunno, more mature?).
And, uhm, I'm seriously going to miss every single one of the characters when this finally ends. Den-O isn't the most perfect show, I'll be the first to admit that. The plot was kinda... nonexistant up until recently. In fact, looking back, I don't even really remember it. Lots of fighting and little reward, basically? And then everything was piled on us in the last 15 or so eps. (Better than the last 2 or 3 like some shows.) But despite that, the characters are amazing. I love every one of them. After Kabuto failed so hard to have a powerful and respect-worthy lead, Momo swooped in and showed me it could be done right. I loved Ura the moment we got scans of him, and I'm definitely going to miss him the most. Even Kin, whose type I normally dislike! I didn't like Ryuu or Yuuto in the beginning, but even they have won my heart over. (I'll be buying the Ryuu and Zeronos vinyls in the future, if possible...) And not to mention Deneb, who is easily the sweetest thing to ever grace tokusatsu.
Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I'm going to cry when Den-O ends, so if people wanna send me some tissues or something it'd appreciated. ♥
∙ Kamen Rider Agito
Everything has gotten really hardcore in the final quarter. Not many Kamen Riders have a steady story that knows where it's going, and other than a handful of episodes that didn't really help or hurt, I believe Agito is one that was incredibly well-planned and -written. It has a nice balance of drama and humor, too, and that can't exactly be said for many recent series.
I've powered through the show so far (6 more eps to go), so I haven't had much time to reflect on everything else.
∙ Ultraseven X
Man this show was a mess. Each episode was a standalone mission right up until the last two, where plot decided to hit everyone upside the head. Maybe I'll appreciate it more when it's subbed, but right now I'm disappointed that it appears to be connected to and canon with Ultraseven.
That said, I loved K and S, even though their characters are more shallow than a puddle of water on a boiling sidewalk in summer. I'm definitely going to follow K's actor to future shows. ♥
∙ Ultra Galaxy: Daikaijuu Battle
I really don't care about kaijuu. I honestly don't. I don't see the appeal. But this show, for some reason, has really captivated me. I'm hoping that won't fade with the remaining episodes. So many mysteries and I love the connections to the rest of the Ultra series. (Oki showing Rei a picture of Ultraman made me more happy than it should've.)
A little low on the budget scale, and it can be too much like Pokemon at times (GOMORA, I CHOOSE YOU!), but I'm really excited to see how the story unfolds. (It seems to have good pacing so far, but U7X has made me weary of short series.)
∙ Shigeshoshi
This seemed to suffer from Sudden Plot Syndrome, too. I'll give it some credit, though, because it at least had some flirting going on in earlier episodes that gave credibility to Mamiya and Azuki being a couple. (They sure slept with eachother quickly though didn't they.) I dunno what was up with Mitsuru, though, his anger was completely out of nowhere. And then it faded out of existence just as fast -- incredibly anticlimatic.
Some part of me is glad that everything didn't end with rainbows and bunnies though. Life just isn't like that.
∙ DD-BOYS
I originally watched this raw on Youtube, and didn't even finish it (I think I got to episode 15 or so, then skipped to 19 or something for Igarashi, and didn't go any further), but seeing the first episode subbed made me love it so much more. A whole new level of humor and friendship is unlocked when I know what the boys are saying. I'm hoping the remaining episodes are subbed successfully.
Funny how easily I fall into fandoms. It started out just researching Zukkii and Araki when I saw them as actors for Gekiranger, and then discovering Mebius and Shunji, until eventually I joined all the D-BOYS lj communities and bookmarked all their blogs and saved all the scans and downloaded all the videos and ugh. (*A *) Now? I love pretty much all the boys (and tolerate the rest) and regret nothingggg. >3;;
∙ D-STAGE and Backstage
This has been sitting on my harddrive for ages, but it being 2 hours and raw completely turned me off until I saw
waka-laka's caps of the Backstage. So last night I sat down and watched it all and though I didn't understand 90% of it, I enjoyed it thoroughly. Those boys have definitely won my heart over.
The Backstage was hilarious. Rarely do I actually laugh out loud, but seeing Kaji run screaming by the camera while Wadasaurus casually talked to it made me burst out into laughter. I re-watched it again today and still it's one of the most hilarious things I've seen. ♥ Seeing the guest boys improv a little bit was adorable, too. They all seemed so comfortable on stage, in front of so many people. Ahh I can only dream to be like that. *_*
Revoltech Dante finally arrived.
He's a lot smaller than I expected. eh eh ;] ;] ;] ;]
Also while I'm at it, have some cats.
Maya has taken a liking to drinking from my faucet. I have no clue, seriously.
Happy kitty family part 2.
Maya is the next Boukenger, true story. Only she is courageous enough to explore behind my monitor!
Yeah I should probably go do something productive. :|
