They'd stayed in worse places, Dean was certain of that. There was the one time the two of them and their dad were shoved into an RV for a week when Sam was just hitting his teen angst phase - all three of them were lucky to have made it out alive. Then that place that was a literal roach motel, as in, they all slept with their shoes on because if they had to get up to pee in the middle of the night, they didn't want to step on roaches with bare feet. Just the memory of that made Dean want to shudder.
But he couldn't really shudder, because he was already shivering so hard he couldn't be still. So maybe they'd stayed in worse places, but never anyplace colder. He knew they were lucky to have what they did, it would have been worse to sleep in the car, but this rickety old cabin had cracks in the walls that let the wind rush right into the room. The snowstorm that had trapped them there had soaked any available kindling beyond any usefulness for starting a fire. He'd never been so cold in his life, he was certain of that.
"Found some more blankets", Sam told him, walking back in to the room and snuggling up next to Dean in the makeshift sleeping bag/blanket combo they'd created and adding on the extra layers. He'd thought Sam getting back under the covers would warm him up, but Sam's clothes were cold from the air in the cabin. Sam must have felt Dean's shiver. "Just give it a minute, we'll warm up a little", he reassured Dean, pulling him into his arms so they were chest to chest.
Dean did what he always did when they were this close - pulled Sam closer and kissed him until he was dizzy. "Definitely warming up", Sam mumbled into Dean's neck when they broke apart.
And there was Dean, having one of those wildly inappropriate memories about their wildly inappropriate teenage behavior. Now was just as good a time as any to bring it up. "Hey Sammy, remember when we used to get each other off with practically all our clothes on, just in case we got walked in on?"
Sam snorted a laugh. "Yeah, Dean, sure, I remember."
"You wanna see if we can still pull off that little trick?" Dean asked, giving his brother a smirk, the glint of a dare in his eyes. He knew Sam wasn't going to back off from that challenge.
"Please, Dean, you know I could make you come in your damn jeans if I wanted to", Sam responded, returning a determined look of his own.
Absolutely, for sure, not the worse place they ever stayed.
