There was no taking chances; he couldn't see much in the dark house, though there was faint light coming in the windows. Now he simply had to decide; stay still and wait, go search, or make his way to the hall to make sure Hilda was alright.

For now, he just didn't see anybody, but the sun was coming up and the room was slowly, very slowly getting lighter. He quietly checks on Hilda, opening the door to her room and then closing it before turning around again.]

But he has his own handgun that he basically hasn't let go of since he bought it, so he raises it against the smaller figure, their features still not quite distinguishable.]

This would have worked really well if he hadn't tripped over one of the rugs going into the kitchen.
His drone wife had an annoying habit of leaving all of the washed dinnerware on the counters to dry, so a good number of plates fall onto the floor as he crashes into a sideboard. Netherlands swears, then double-checks the handgun.]

She heard Netherlands walk by (it was hard to mistake his heavier footsteps for those of the girl's). She waited for the second set of footsteps and opened the door as quickly and hard as she could, hoping she'd hit or at least surprise the girl who was trying to kill him. The crashing dinnerware makes her flinch a bit, though.]
