[Phone]

I don't know who you are, but Hilda told me there was somebody looking for Hilbert earlier.

I'm sorry, he's been killed.

[No other way to say it, really.]

[Action]

[If there was anything to be glad about, it was that the night had been uneventful.  After Hilda had gone to bed late while he slept, Holland had been awake in the dark hours of ( Read more... )

[He was tired enough to fall asleep in the armchair, handgun still close, resting in his lap. Then he opened his eyes, still a little drowsy -- he had heard a sound. At least, he thought he'd heard a sound, though it was hard to tell in a haze of half sleep whether it was reality or a dream.

There was no taking chances; he couldn't see much in the dark house, though there was faint light coming in the windows. Now he simply had to decide; stay still and wait, go search, or make his way to the hall to make sure Hilda was alright.

For now, he stayed still.]

[So far he hadn't heard anything else; still, Netherlands stared into the dark room, eyes wide open as he strained to hear anything else.

It was simply too unnerving; he would at least go check on Hilda. As he stands, his silhouette can be seen passing by the dim light of the front windows.]

[He moves slowly, heading towards the hallway. Once he's there, he leans against the wall and takes a look at the entire front room, eyes adjusting to the darkness.

For now, he just didn't see anybody, but the sun was coming up and the room was slowly, very slowly getting lighter. He quietly checks on Hilda, opening the door to her room and then closing it before turning around again.]

[And that he hears. It's unmistakable, the sound of a gun, a sound he's heard too many times, whether it's the muskets of centuries ago, or the automatics of modern day.

But he has his own handgun that he basically hasn't let go of since he bought it, so he raises it against the smaller figure, their features still not quite distinguishable.]

Stop.

[A command, not a suggestion, definitely not a plea. He expects people to do what he says, after all.]

[The chuckle ignites a bit of anger; he pulls the trigger before she's even done talking. It's dark though, so it's not a good shot, but hopefuly it will give him a chance to get away from Hilda's room and into somewhere with more space.]

Hilda mun is going to join us /o/ vertulpen May 31 2011, 02:28:35 UTC
[He wasn't sure what he was expecting her to do; maybe he was hoping she'd run or lose her composure. As it were, he ducks into the dining room which is off the hallway and connects to the kitchen, which in turns goes back to the front room.

This would have worked really well if he hadn't tripped over one of the rugs going into the kitchen.

His drone wife had an annoying habit of leaving all of the washed dinnerware on the counters to dry, so a good number of plates fall onto the floor as he crashes into a sideboard. Netherlands swears, then double-checks the handgun.]

[The gunshot woke her up and masked her quick exit from bed at the same time, though she was up before she realized what was happening. Tiptoeing to the door, she sat frozen for a moment as she heard Netherlands and someone else in the house. Someone who wasn't here for her, which meant--

She heard Netherlands walk by (it was hard to mistake his heavier footsteps for those of the girl's). She waited for the second set of footsteps and opened the door as quickly and hard as she could, hoping she'd hit or at least surprise the girl who was trying to kill him. The crashing dinnerware makes her flinch a bit, though.]

Jessica-->Holland-->Hilda ? vertulpen May 31 2011, 03:51:11 UTC
[He heard the door open. Unsure whether it were the stranger or Hilda, he hurries around, back to the front room, calling for Hilda.]

Hilda! Hilda, stay where you are!

[She froze as soon as she heard Holland speaking, her eyes attempting to focus in the dim light on whoever else was in the house. The girl didn't look that much older than her.]
