[Amy sort of shuffles morosely into the camp, visibly depressed but trying valiantly not to let on just how upset she still is about Rory's disappearance from Vertiline. She hasn't taken off the ring he gave her here, and--she's got his gladius too, attached to the balteus looped across her chest. Threat of wild animals? She's ready for them. Even though she has absolutely no idea how to actually wield a sword.]
[Zhaneel has been watching the arrival of various people, keeping kind of to the sidelines. She hasn't met all of those that are here and doesn't wish to alarm anyone by being a 'big, scary, monster' when it's one of the things they're actually concerned about out here.
She spies Amy, though .. and though she doesn't know the woman there is a sadness to her form that is very familiar to the gryphon. Yeah, Zhaneel knows all about losing those you love, Amy.
The gryphon learned something new tonight .. she learned about hot chocolate .. she learned about how well hot chocolate goes with various liquors that her troll-brother brought along. She hadn't known any of this before tonight. The more you know, eh?
So, thermos of *ahem* special cocoa in hand, the gryphon pads quietly over toward the woman and sits next to her. She clears her throat softly to announce herself and bobs her head once in greeting.]
Heyla .. I hope I am not being a bother .. I .. I thought you might care for a bit of .. What was it .. Ahh .. Hot chocolate? [She
( ... )
[Amy isn't too alarmed by Zhaneel; they both arrived together, after all, and she's met some pretty weird looking aliens while traveling with the Doctor. A giant gryphon is pretty tame, considering. She gives Zhaneel her best attempt at a smile and takes the thermos]
[Zhaneel bobs her head and shifts, curling up on the ground near Amy like a big dog; a big dog that, while laying down, remains as big as a draft horse. She looks pleased that Amy has accepted the thermos and with a soft ruffling of feathers she fluffs herself up and relaxes.]
Thank you .. Please help yourself .. Kevas helped me prepare it.
[She'd already had a thermos herself, but then a gryphon's threshold for alcohol was far greater than many.]
[she pauses in opening the thermos and sniffs the open top thoughtfully. Oh yeah, Kevas definitely had a hand in this. Maybe it'll go down sort of like a warm Mudslide]
Can you drink it?
[one of the first things you learn when traveling with the Doctor: not all aliens are like humans. And it's weirdly comforting, sitting next to a bird-thing the size of a draft horse]
[Zhaneel bobs her head in ascent to Amy's question, facial feathers rising and flattening in rapid succession.]
Aye, I can .. and have. [She gurgles in amusement, having only had one thermos of the stuff so far, she's not even touched .. give her a bit, though.]
That though .. you look as if you need it as much as I.
[She shifts a bit and rests her head on Amy's knee, gazing up at the girl with eyes far too old for her relatively few years. She's found with humans that such a gesture tends to relax them, like a bond cat or feral dog that's been taken in now and again. Humans just seem to enjoy the company of the four footed and it helps them relax when they have something to scritch and pet.
Not to say she didn't enjoy the scritching, mind .. cause she did.]
[that is unexpected, the head on her knee, but Amy doesn't mind it. It IS relaxing. After a slight pause, she rests her free hand on top of Zhaneel's head]
