[Lucia wasn't quite sure what to make of the candy when she first got it. Because, well, she seriously was just going to do what she does every other day. Come on, she has more important things to worry about ( Read more... )

Why...Why is everyone so cute today? Nanoha would be upset if she knew I was thinking like this...

Um, what exactly do you want to get?

[S-she has to take a second to reconsider.]

Mm... Chocolate? That is what you're supposed to give someone today, isn't it? I know I was talking to someone about it earlier, and that's what she said she was giving someone... Oh, but wait, she said she was giving it to her "opponent", so maybe that's not right after all...

Oh, no, that is what people usually give. I should have assumed as much. I think just about any store would have chocolate around this time. Valentine's Day is important in America.

Oh, really? So, just about any store, and chocolate's what I should get... That sounds easy enough!

Do you celebrate Valentine's Day often? To be honest, this's the first time I've ever... Had time for it, I guess. Which is why I'm a little lost as to what you should and shouldn't do.

I celebrated it a little bit when I was younger, but, um...well, I wasn't from a place that usually celebrated it, you could say.

A-at least you have that for an excuse. I was just... too busy to bother, you could say. Among other things...

Too busy?

Mm, how to put it... My job can get pretty demanding sometimes. And since I'm pretty much the boss, there's... a lot of responsibility.

Oh, I can understand that. I have the same sort of job myself.

R-really...? Well, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.

[In a manner of speaking, anyway.]

I do. It keeps me away from my family for long periods, but I do love my job.

...... That can happen sometimes, can't it? But sometimes my father helps out, if it gets a little hectic. A-and I have a few friends helping me, too, so it's not like I'm doing it all on my own anymore.

Having friends and family makes things much easier to bear, even the hardest of jobs. I can understand.

... Yeah... You get things done quicker, and you have someone to watch out for you. I used to think it'd be... difficult to work with someone I hardly knew, because I'd have to worry about them messing up, but it really wasn't so bad once I tried it.

Maybe this holiday's the same, in that respect. R-rather, that I was wrong about it, and that it should be given a chance.

It's good to give new people and new things a chance, even if it can be a bit difficult.

Seems so, doesn't it? Though, I sort of wish my first time with this holiday could be with them. I-it's probably being picky, I know, but... Well.

Besides. One of them really loves chocolate. She's even made a whole meal of nothing but it before.
