[Application :: Shiba Kuukaku]keikainJanuary 29 2009, 08:23:02 UTC
Personality: Kuukaku is an incredibly straight-forward character. Never one to take no for an answer or bother with questions that she considers all but answer themselves (or are too much trouble to explain herself), she gets the job done. Through familial connections or just sheer perseverance of nature, she has a wide array of resources at her beck and call and she's not afraid to use them or anyone unfortunate enough to be snagged by her to do a little grunt work.
She takes joy in a job well done (especially if it includes violence), moving around a lot, and the occasional drink, but what she holds nearest and dearest is definitely her family. From her deceased older brother, whose opinions she still considers when making decisions to her younger brother who she frequently and lovingly abuses. She tends to show her overprotective, motherly side most to her younger brother. It's because of this, she doesn't tend to see that he's grown up without her realizing it, but she never steps down in supporting him when it's clear that his mind's made up.
Strengths: Kuukaku is tough and can get down to business when it needs doing. Her creative nature and willingness to work with the tools she has on hand are unmatched. Weaknesses: However, she has a crazy temper and a sense of pride that can make her abrasive and hard to work with. Not to mention that, even though she's made a fair bid at dealing with it, only having one arm isn't exactly easy to handle.
Third-Person Sample:
The night air was balmy with the barest traces of sticky heat from earlier in the day blown away. Summer was coming to an end, drawing to a quiet close after the excitement of before. Kuukaku exhaled, leaning back against her palm, the weathered wood firm beneath her hand.
It had been some time since she'd last done something like that. Oh, there were plenty of smaller adventures to go about, of course. But the biggest and best had been years ago, back when Kaien and the others had still been around.
Things had been a lot simpler then, a lot crazier, too. It seemed like there had always been something to do back then. Kuukaku shook her head, shifting to pour herself another cup of sake. There were times when she missed those days, days that had come to a screeching halt when Yoruichi had left, when a shinigami had come to their door dragging with it the dying corpse of her brother.
There was a sharp pang in her chest at the thought of his last words, thanks given to his executioner. Even if it was in the past, she could still remember it, their black and bloodied shihakushou in sharp contrast to the bright green of spring grass, damp with recent showers.
... The same grass she could hear being torn up by hoofed feet just yards away, jerking her sharply from a sake-warmed lull.
That idiot was late again, wasn't he? Kuukaku was on her feet in seconds, the low-rimmed sake cup barely managing not to spill the clear liquid on the hardwood floor as she slapped it down.
"What do you think you're doing, bringing that hog in here!?"
She glared down at the bulky form of her younger brother and his equally bulky choice of a pet.
"T- Taking Bonne-chan for a walk? You know how lonely she gets some nights an' well..."
Kuukaku wrinkled her nose. She was going to need another cup or two after this.
First-Person Sample:
Heeeeeey!
What's a girl gotta do to get some answers around here, huh? I don't got all day to kick around this place, you know. I've got places to go, brothers to kick into action.
Besides, there might be a free drink or two in it for anyone that does. Long as I don't drink it first.
Finally, what is Spekkio's favorite past time? Devising zany incantations of sorcery.
