Character's Name: "May" Lee Jinju Series: King of Fighters Timeline: Current KoF timeline Canon Resource Link and/or Canon History: May Lee's Trip Atlas article
Why did your character accept the invitation?: Having sat out the King of Fighters tournament for several years now, May Lee jumps on this chance to prove herself worthy of a permanent slot in Team Korea's kof team. To honor her country, her master, and wanna-be super heroes everywhere!
Character's occupation: May Lee would, of course, be a fighter.
Character's skills/abilities/talents: May Lee was trained in the national sport of Korea, Tae Kwan Do, by Kim Kaphwan himself, whom is largely considered to be a grandmaster. But, on top of this, May Lee also began teaching herself the techniques of Kim Kaphwan's friend and rival, Jae Hoon, in order to better perfect her own personal style. However, where her real prowess sets in is combining the skills she learned in Tae Kwan Do with her life long obsession, Takusatsu. Taking the flashy poses, attacks, and style of her favorite super heroes, Kamen Rider and Kikaider, she has been able to make an explosive style all her own. It's a bit hard to predict by nature of how over the top it is, which makes her extremely effective in one on one fights.
May Lee is also a skilled dancer, having practiced breakdancing and idol style dancing since she was a little girl.
Personality: May Lee is intense, energetic, and robust. She is nearly constantly turned up to eleven and very rarely does she show a calm side except when she's in a meditative state. That being said, she has very little trouble making friends and will stay loyal to the people she considers close to the very end. Her patriotism is also very strong, and she truly believes that South Korea is the greatest nation in the world. This often leads her to making comparisons between it and other nations, oftentimes in a ridiculous fashion. May Lee also has extreme pride in her martial art, calling it the "Sport of Kings", and feels that all other martial arts are iherently inferior to it (in spite of her using the unorthodox "hero" style).
Strengths: May Lee has dedication and pride. She never gives up on anything, and when she has her heart set on a goal, she goes after it with all the fury and intensity she can muster. You can count on May Lee anytime to not only get a job done, but get it done right and fast.
Weaknesses: May Lee's intensity is also a weakness. She is rarely able to calm down and see things with a clear mind. Her pride can also be turned against her, due to her often taking challenges too great for her to handle. In general, her personality is a double edged sword for her. It can be a great strength, or a great weakness.
Third-Person Sample: One, two, three, KICK! One, two, thee, KICK! May Lee made her motions in a steady rhythem, punding away at the sandbag in the Kim Dojo, her foot making heavy marks on the reinforced skin of the bag. Each kick shook the pillar that the bag had been wrapped around, her strength clear to the others who had stopped their own workout to watch her. Her kiai echoed throughout the large hall, and many of the younger students watched with a mix of admiration and a hope they'd never have to spar with her. May Lee did have a reputation for being one of the very best in the school, after all.
As she finished and took a few calming breaths, she grabbed a towl from the rack nearby and began to wipe the sweat from her face and arms.Time to head to the locker room, she thought to herself. There were a mass of thoughts in her mind, and she needed some space to sort them out. For the sixth year in a row, Master Kim had forgone asking her to participate in a King of Fighters tournament. It seemed since her near death at the hands of Igniz, Master Kim had been hesitant to put her in that sort of situation ever again. It angered her, but she knew that Master Kim only meant well for her. She had a life and career to look forward to... she couldn't waste her life on those sorts of competitions.
This of course just angered her further. Had she not grown strong enough? She wasn't a young girl anymore! She was a woman with the strength to take on the world around her, she just needed a chance to prove hereself, damnit! She needed Master Kim to be able to trust in her skills again on that level! Winning these national tournaments wasn't enough... She wanted that thrill of taking on the best the world had to offer again! Why couldn't she? It didn't makese sense...
It was then she noticed a letter sticking out of her locker...
First-Person Sample: This place is amazing! I can already feel the thrill of the challenge running through me as I walk down the street! I wonder who all has come here so far? I hope they're all super strong! Otherwise I'll have wasted my time packing! Now where is this House of Arms I'm supposed to go to? And I hope they don't mind me putting up a flag in the living room...
