To one with an adventurer's soul, the City of Versus overflowed with life, a sense of strength, abounding energy, and a passion that was like a sweet ale: spirited and intoxicating. Too little of it, and you might lose your nerve; too much, though, and you may lose control. Shanks was already familiar with a world just as grand and wild, giving him plenty of experience, so the infamous pirate had no problems enjoying the organized madness while keeping a level head at the same time. After a nap and a quick snack to recover from his battle with Dio, he cleaned himself up a bit and left the House of Arms, hoping for a chance to explore a little piece of this new world and drink in all it had to offer.

Wandering was half of the fun, so for a great deal of time, he simply walked around, traveling the streets and sidewalks of the city's Entertainment District, idly strolling from place to place. "Ahh-ha~, what a party this place is. Probably goes on non-stop, too!" he bemusedly said aloud, striding through the crowded streets, the blackened cloak around his shoulders waving in the breeze. The weather was enormously pleasant, feeling like a day in late Spring. He was more than comfortable, walking around in his loose clothing and his open sandals. He also particularly enjoyed the looks he began to get from the residents of the city, many of them pointing and looking on admiringly as he walked by. Smiling, he nodded at the few brave enough to look him in the eyes, then continued along.

Hoping to find a cozy spot to spend his time and enjoy a meal, and one would think that with so much crowded into one city, there would definitely be a place like that to enjoy. He'd visited a few wild cities from time to time, but nothing like this, with all the lights and sounds bombarding his senses endlessly. It barely seemed like there was enough room to even take a step forward, with countless warm bodies occupying every visible square inch of space along the main pavillion, a stretch of heavily-packed sidewalks that intersected all the way back to the Arena and the House of Arms.

A few of he restaraunts and clubs seemed interesting enough, but their neon signs flashed in his eyes and crashing bass echoing from inside assaulted his ears, nothing but a lot of artificial music and irritating atmospheres. Shanks winced a little as he passed them; he was a brave man, but he simply couldn't bring himself to venture inside any of these.

He eventually came upon a ray of hope, one that shone out between all the disappointing clouds. A plain, old-fashioned sign hung down from the roof, one written with actual words for a change. He walked up the small set of front steps, then leaned his head down and nearly pressed it to the door. "Oh! Oh-ho, that's more like it!" he exclaimed; he could actually hear real musical instruments being played inside, not to mention a very enticing smell wafting out through the front doors. Immediately, he pulled the door aside and stepped in.

Setting down at a table, Shanks felt his heart warm as he was immediately greeted by a fetching young woman; she smiled brightly at him, then took his order before sashaying off to the kitchen. This was exactly what he had been hoping for: no fancy lights or fake music, but instead a small group playing unfamiliar, yet delightful instruments while everyone inside laughed, ate, and drank between gaps in conversation. The pub itself was decorated plainly, with freshly-painted walls and soft, wooden paneling, with tables dotting the floor and around the corners and a long bottle-backed bar that stretched nearly all along an entire wall. They also had a few of those 'Tea-Vees', hung up strategically around the room, showing highlights from the recent Arena matches.

Yes, he could certainly learn to like this. A little bit of company would make it even better.~
