It was probably a good thing that Conrad insisted they meet at the restaurant, because it gave Yozak an opportunity to go out and buy some different clothes. He hadn't felt the need before, but he wasn't going to borrow Conrad's own jacket again for a special occasion. Nor did he feel it appropriate to break out his lucky dress - that was for work, not play. The trouble was, few of the shops catered directly to fighters of his size and build. The short-sleeved, collared shirt Yozak eventually found was still a bit too tight around his biceps, but his arms didn't fit into anything else at all. He thought the trousers looked a bit too much like his uniform (which he never wore...ever, if he could help it) but his choices were limited.

So, it was a casually-dress Yozak who sashayed up the sidewalk toward the restaurant, hands in his pockets, whistling to himself. He was thinking that Conrad made Earth-style clothing look good, he could only hope to look half as nice. He was about to find out, as he spotted his companion and raised one hand high in a wave.

Conrad turned around as he saw somebody waving at him out of the corner of his eye. He blinked, Yozak looked.....different. His eyes roamed over the new clothing and the tight fit of them and Yozak´s handsome smile and wild looking hair. Yozak looked...handsome. Conrad thought that he should have taken the other outfit and not his current plain clothing he wore.

He held the small packet awkwardly in his hands, his sword was brushing against his legs as he shifted his weight. He could be happy that his tension was not visible on his face.

"Hello, Yozak."

"Conrad," Yozak greeted him as he came up beside him. His blue eyes flicked quickly to take in Conrad's appearance, and he thought to himself that he must be the luckiest man in the city. Conrad always looked so good, in or out of uniform. "I didn't keep you waiting too long, I hope? Just couldn't do a thing with my hair." He ruffled a hand through it, messing it up even more. He grinned in such a way to put his companion at ease. "Shall we?"

"No, you didn´t keep me waiting for so long. Thank you for accepting my invite," usually he would kiss the woman´s hand now but that would look odd when he would try that with Yozak. Instead of doing this he turned to the restaurant and opened the door for the redhead.

"You look lov--....handsome today." Conrad should have looked up how to act when your partner was male and not a female.

Yozak smiled sweetly at his companion. His flustering and politeness was so cute. "Thank you," he said just as politely, passing through the door. "You're quite handsome yourself. Hmm, I don't think I've seen you in that outfit before." He didn't mind being taken care of, since this was Conrad's idea. Yozak figured he would go along with it fine unless Conrad did or said something wrong - and he expected that would never happen. Besides, he usually had to work hard to charm, it was nice being the one charmed this time.

Conrad smiled as an answer. He led them to a table beside a big window. From there they could see the park and partly the small river. Conrad had remembered that Yozak had suggested a walk there the last time. That´s why he chose this place for their dinner.

He pulled the chair away for Yozak to sat down at the table. Again he was not sure if that was a proper gesture towards a male partner. "I hope that place is to your liking. It´s not formal and quite relaxing but it´s not a tavern either." He had given it a lot of thought which place would be the best for both of them.

"Ahh, you know me, Conrad. As long as the food is good, I don't much care whether I'm in a palace or a shed." He patted Conrad on the back as he passed and sat down, gesturing for his comrade to take his own chair and join him. "You certainly gave this all a lot of thought. It's nice to see how much this means to you." Yozak smiled warmly, assuring that he was being completely honest.

Maybe he gave that all a bit too much thought. He took his seat and bowed his head to Yozak. "Then I hope you will enjoy our date." The small gift stood beside Conrad´s plate. He would give it to Yozak when they had placed their order.

"Enjoying it already." How could he not, being with Conrad out in public? Though, there was something about it that was different from them going places together as just friends. For Yozak's part, he was focused solely on Conrad. Aside from an instinctive glance around to know the surroundings (in case of danger, of course), he wasn't watching other people, letting his mind wander, or anything. Yozak's whole world at the moment was the man across the table from him...and his menu. He glanced it over but he already knew what he wanted, a hearty meal with perhaps an unusual flavor or spice that he'd never had before. He made up his mind quickly and set it aside so he could gaze at Conrad some more.

"What have you got, there?" Yozak had noticed the packet beside his comrade's plate, though he had no idea what could be inside. "What, were you shopping to pass the time before I showed up?"

Busted! He shouldn´t try to fool a spy. Conrad laughed awkwardly. "Not exactly. I got something for you. I thought flowers wouldn´t be your style." Conrad pushed the packet over to Yozak. "I wanted to wait until we have our order placed. But you asked about it."

He had already decided what he wanted to eat and now was a good time as ever. A bit of the awkwardness was now visible on his face. He felt somehow out of the water here. He wanted to make Yozak smile and what came so easily to him when he was out with a woman was escaping him when it came to Yozak.

Yozak brightened up in surprise. "What? Ahh, Conrad, you didn't have to." But he still reached out and took the packet. "And who says flowers aren't my style? Well...~ all right maybe only in certain moments they are. But!" He grinned slyly. "May I open it right now? Hmm?" Then, he smacked himself in the forehead in comical regret. "Ahh! And I didn't get you anything! Aw, I'm horrible. Truly horrible."

He could tell from Conrad's body language that he was nervous; Yozak's favorite tactic to help others relax was humor.

And it helped. Conrad´s tension seemed to melt away as he brushed his hair back. "No, that was my pleasure to do. I asked you out." At least that said the dating manual.

"Go ahead and open it. I hope you will like it."

Yozak opened it with all the eagerness of a kid on his birthday. The leather was unusual, and then he saw the design engraved on it. "Ha! Now that's clever." He rubbed his thumb over the fox, his face melting into a soft smile for a moment. "A simple thing that speaks so loudly..."

He sat for a moment admiring it, and then sat up straight and put it on his left wrist - since his arms were bare, tonight. "You are far too good to me, Conrad. Perhaps next time it'll be a nice corsage to match my dress," he teased. "Really, though. Thank you doesn't say enough."

Conrad was relieved that Yozak liked his small gift. "It´s also a thank you to you. You were always a good friend to me....even when we had our disputes." He looked a bit surprises as Yozak suggested the next present. "Uhm....well...I would need to know your size then." He didn´t just say that, did he?

The waiter came to their table, effectively stopping Conrad to say more. The soldier waited for Yozak to order first.

"Ahh..." Yozak shook his head slightly. "Having you back where you belonged was apology and thank you enough. It's like they say...actions really do speak louder than words." He grinned slyly, then. "Ohh~ well then. Good thing I'm not really a lady, I'll be happy to tell you things like that," he laughed.

What an awkward time for the waiter to show up. Yozak brushed it off with another laugh and a stupid grin as he ordered the exotic-sounding stew with rice he had found, along with sweetened tea. That sounded like a nice, quiet dinner.

Conrad was somehow glad about the waitor´s interruption. He put down his own order and chose a tea and a glass of sweet wine.

The waiter thanked them for their orders and went to get their food and drinks.

Conrad glanced at the new leather bracelet around Yozak´s wrist. He couldn´t hold back a smile. It seemed much more real now to him that they were really dating.
