Who: Yozak rutenberg_spy and Conrad guardian_conrad When: immediately after dinner with Cloud in their apartment Where: their room Why: Yozak is in trouble for being lazy Rating: bad Conrad! some naked ;)
Yozak winced a little before he could stop himself. He preferred honesty, but it was making things so much more difficult. This was precisely why he hid his feelings for so long and hadn't wanted to let them come out. "I'm not so foolish as to expect a romantic fairy tale ending where you tell me you feel the same way and we live happily ever after," he said in that low voice he used when he was being serious. "But...I need to know that there is something. Something that would be different from two lifelong friends who look out for one another and enjoy each other's company." It was terrible that there was no way to name that "something," or really explain it other than to know whether it was there
( ... )
Conrad felt that he was letting Yozak down with his vague answer and he was sorry for this. But he wanted it to work and he didn´t want to base their relationship on a lie.
He laid his hand over Yozak´s lacing their fingers together. His voice was low and serious. "I wouldn´t want to try it if I wouldn´t feel something more for you as simple friendship. You had years to get used to it and to see if your feelings are true. I just started to realize that somebody was interested in me, somebody whom I trust with my life and my secrets. I´m far behind you, wait for me while I try to catch up."
He chuckled, relieved that Yozak had his priorities straight. It would have been a hassle otherwise when they went back to Shin Makoku.
"I count on it that you will try to take them down. Because I know that I won´t be able to do it alone."
The gentle touch brought a smile back to Yozak's face, and he moved his hand to accept Conrad's. "When you put it that way...I get it. Then, we should move at your pace. If I get too eager," he grinned, "pull me back." He lifted Conrad's hand to his lips and kissed his knuckles.
"Your goals are mine. That won't be a problem." Yozak laughed lightly. "Besides, his majesty has charmed me as much as anyone else. I wouldn't fail him in any way. It just so happens that it means I won't fail you either."
It was a strange feeling for Conrad to experience such a gentleness from his long time friend. It was as if he saw Yozak for the first time and his heart told him to be careful. His rational side was surprised and his sensitive side was wary. This was so new for him.
"He can be quite charming, right?" He leaned closer, bumping his shoulder against Yozak´s.
"Thank you Yozak. My pace might be a bit slow. However I hope you can read the signs when I need a little push though."
"He out-charms me, sometimes," Yozak admitted with another laugh, nudging back. "But enough about Yuuri, we were talking about us." He rested his head against Conrad's shoulder. "So~ you wouldn't mind if I snuck up on you and gave you that push once in a while? Not that I can't be patient. I'm very~ patient," he teased, expecting Conrad to contradict him. After all, Yozak had his hot-headed moments too. He was not always perfectly skilled at hiding his reactions and restraining himself from action on the job, less so with his personal time.
Conrad blushed slightly, he had done it again. He had turned the conversation around to a topic which seemed so much saver to him. He need to learn to go around his issues.
"Oh, yeah I have never seen a more patience person than you," he replied flatly. Yozak must be joking, Conrad could fill up a small room with the situation where Yozak wasn´t patient. Okay, he was exaggerating but still.
"Ah, you have my permission as long as you can hold out the answer."
"Whaaat I'm very patient! I have to stay undercover no matter what, that takes a lot of patience," Yozak said, his tone light and joking. It was true, though. "And I put up with you, eh? That has to count for something."
He sat back, and then started to lie down on the bed, tugging on Conrad's hand to invite him to lie with him. "I won't do you wrong, Conrad. I may have to learn to bite my tongue once in a while~...and just let those opportunities to tease you slip past me...ahh." Yozak smiled up at the ceiling. "That'll probably be the hardest part."
Conrad slid beside the redhead, lying down close to him without letting go of his hand. "I wouldn´t mind if you tease me when we are alone. It gives me the chance to make you speechless again." He smirked, since they were in the city he managed it a few time already to make Yozak speechless, blushing and in all acting out of his usual behavior. Yozak could look cute like that but the brown haired soldier kept that to himself. Less the risk that Yozak would find a way to pay him back.
"Oh, yeah?" Yozak rolled onto his side to face Conrad. "So we can still have our wars of words privately, eh? Deal." He reached up with his other hand and stroked his fingers along Conrad's jaw. "You can try to make me forget my words. It's always interesting when you actually get me."
"I think if I get a favor for all the times I got you already since we are here then you would have no time to fight anymore," his voice was low and inviting. Brown eyes admired the bigger man.
His worries that he might fail that whole relationship thing were quiet for once.
"Ohh~ no. No favors," Yozak chuckled. He let go of Conrad's hand and stretched out his arm to wrap around the other man. "We'll start from zero, right now. A fresh challenge."
Conrad relaxed against the cushions, his smile curled playful around his mouth. "A new challenge? I would say you will lose, Yozak."
He became serious again. "I would like to lay some common rules between us. Something which should help in the beginning. I know that we are a good team but....," he trailed off. His request sounded a bit childish but he would feel better when he had something to hold on instead of throwing himself from a cliff without rescue line.
Conrad reached out and brushed an offending lock of hair away from Yozak´s face. "I expect absolute honesty between us. No dancing around words. And if we have a fight it will be solved at the day it happens. We won´t go to sleep with a disagreement between us."
He waited for Yozak´s confirmation before he would go on.
Yozak nodded easily. "Done, and done. And if either is offended by something said, we say so, up front." He wagged a finger at Conrad's nose. "No getting revenge, hmm?"
"Ah, limiting my fun already?" He teased the redhead. "And I had you nearly there where I wanted you. Close beside me, kissing me, showing me how much you love me." If Yozak ever saw Conrad using his charm to seduce somebody then he saw now the prestage of the whole thing. Conrad´s voice sounded sultry, his eyes were half lidded and sparkling and his smile was there although a bit more seductive.
